  • Jon Schulz, a visitor whose membership will be approved tonight at his home Rotary club of North Fork Valley in Crawford, Hotchkiss and Paonia, CO.  Jon presented our club with a flag from his club.

Announcements.
  • Next week is a fifth Thursday and there will be no meeting or social. The next social will be May 30 at the High Peak Camp for Salvation Army.  The cost will be  $11 per person.
  • Ray Leaycraft will offer matching your donation of $100 to the Rotary International Foundation  for one additional week. Instructions will be in the Spoke.
  • Gary Nelson”s services are Friday and Saturday.  The Rooftop Rodeo invited all Rotarians to an event at Cousin Pat’s tomorrow night from 6-8 pm.
  • Scott Robbins announced that the kickoff meeting is a week from today at the Ridgeline from 5-7pm in Salons E & F. There will be pizza!

Anne Slack introduced the speaker, Doug Frisbie. He gave a very informative presentation on the history and services of Salud Clinic; how it helps our community in Estes Park and the people it services. Information regarding the Salud Foundation and the Donor Funded Programs offered.

Nominations for the Rotary Club Foundation are: Club Liaison (Karen Thompson), and the six Trustees include Barry Hannigan, Mark Lee, Madison Casey, Jack Boatman, Jim Whiteneck, and Dennis Gellhaus. The Foundation selects the officers for the year when they first meet. Gregg Jurgens will continue to serve on Finances as a consultant. 
Seeking Duck Race Merchant Prize Volunteers
 
Please volunteer to help follow up with merchants about donating prizes for the Duck Race.  We have 12 volunteers so far, but there will be hundreds of merchants to follow up with.  The more merchants we can connect with, the more prizes we will have for the Duck Race.
 
We will show you how to do this -- it's very easy.  This can be done either in person or by phone, your choice.  Most of our merchants love the Duck Race and are happy to donate prizes.  A big thank you to the 12 people who have already volunteered to help.  If you haven't already signed up and would like to, please let Beth know at the meeting on Thursday, or else email her at weisberg.family@verizon.net . 
 
We will be assigning which volunteers are to contact which merchants around March 14,  So  please let Beth know as soon as possible if you are willing to help.

Update on Duck Race Festival
 

Hello, Rotarians! 

The stars are lining up for another successful Duck Race Festival. I think they are blowing into place this morning as I write this! Here is where we stand. 

  • Theme selected: We are Family 
  • Major prizes lined up: $10,000, $6,000, $4,000, 2 night stay at a Camp Hale Explorer Cabin + ATV tour 
  • Buttons produced 
  • Website portals for organizations, sponsors, merchants are on the way 
  • Kick-off meeting is around the corner: Thursday February 29 at the Ridgeline Hotel in Salons E & F.
  • 2024 Website will be live on February 29. 
  • Sponsor email solicitation is out 
  • Named Sponsor is confirmed: Poppy’s and Mama Rose’s 
  • Merchant prize solicitation is getting underway 

We are planning to use Bond Park this year so stay tuned for entertainment acts to be included and other activities there. This is a big expansion for us and we will definitely need Rotarian volunteers to make this venue expansion a success. I know we can count on you!
