Jim Whiteneck said that through the Polio Society 20 million children have been vaccinated against polio. Rotary has raised $1155 this year to help.

Program: Annie Slack introduced our speaker, Lee Varra-Nelson. Lee is a major donor, our recent District Governor, and a Paul Harris fellow. She gave a presentation about the Shelterbox program and how it helps people who have been displaced. Lee also presented our chapter with a “Hero” banner in recognition of our contributions.

Need Volunteers
three shifts on Saturday 10am-12:00pm, 12-3:00pm, and 3-6:00pm
Sunday 1-4:00pm ,and 4-6:00pm
Volunteers are being asked to be room monitors(assuring no one touches or takes anything)
Knowledge about the Stanleys or the home is not required.
Docents throughout the home to answer those questions.
Each room will have a poster with the origin of an old holiday tradition.
We will have roamers that will offer breaks to the room monitors as requested,
Chili, hot soup and beverages will be available for the volunteers.
Fun WARM holiday dress is suggested.
We are asking everyone who does not have mobility challenges to please pick up the museum's shuttle bus at the Visitor Center. (parking at the museum is very limited) The shuttle will be running continuously all day long.
This is a fun holiday event, welcoming neighbors through the house.and spreading holiday cheer to everyone. Please consider volunteering. Your support will be very much appreciated.

Duck Race Committee Update
Duck Race Release May 2023
The Duck Race Committee met on November 16 to:
Select a theme for the 2024 race
Set up a task force to assess alternative governance structures that would broaden our pool of leadership candidates and participation in the race,
Tweak our sponsorship structure to allow more levels of sponsorship.
We adopted a theme that emphasizes diversity and bringing people together:
"We Are Family".
This will appear in press releases and other promotional materials as we quack to the starting line.
We discussed organizational alternatives. an issue that has come up
as the race has grown
as our Rotary membership struggled to keep up with these demands.
We have an excellent team of leaders responsible for the various aspects of the race

expand our pool of leadership candidates and
Estes Valley stakeholder participation in the governance of the race for long term viability of the Duck Race Festival
Committee formed of Lee Lasson, Bill Solms, Scott Thompson, Bob Fulton (one of our non-Rotary tech gurus), and Anne Slack to explore the pros and cons of restructuring the Duck Race governance structure.
The Duck Race Committee also decided to provide a wider range of sponsorship alternatives. Presently have
a named sponsor at a $5,000 level,
major sponsors at $500
minor sponsors at $100 - $499.
Want to adopt a multi-tiered system similar to the one the Rotary golf tournament used with platinum, gold, silver, and bronze levels of sponsorship.

We will be selecting in December & January
participating organizations & key contracts from those organization
soliciting volunteers,
updating our merchant lists,
reaching out to potential sponsors,
preparing our special event application to the Town.
I am sure there will be few dull moments as we move toward our May 4 race date.
Interact Club Meeting
Last Friday
30 plus 8th grade students attended the fourth Club meeting. Anna Weddle led the group making holiday cards for their Bright Christmas family. The students were given a list of the family's Christmas wishes. They will meet again on December 1st and bring their gifts for the family. A wrapping party will be the focus of the next meeting. Erin Barryhill is the club's Sponsor. Stacey Winsor, Exchange Student Counselor for Sunrise Rotary, Lucy Miano, Exchange Student, Jim Jonell, Youth Services Director for Noon Rotary and myself were present. If you would like to be part of the group, please contact Jim. We meet between 11:30 AM and 12:15 PM every other Friday at the Middle School in room 215. It is so much fun, you'll be glad you came.
