Angel Hoffman has been working in the geriatric field since the early 1990's. Her experience includes both long-term and acute care with a focus on providing support and education to people living with dementia and their care partners. She has a Master's of Art degree in Gerontology from the University of Northern Colorado and Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University. Her motto for her work comes from the quote of Maya Angelou, " People will forget what you said, people will forget what you do, but they will never forget how you made them feel."
Angel will provide a dementia education, where we are with current research, the organization's focus and resources available.

The Foundation selects the officers for the year when they first meet. Gregg Jurgens will continue to serve on Finances as a consultant.
Seeking Duck Race Merchant Prize Volunteers
Please volunteer to help follow up with merchants about donating prizes for the Duck Race. We have 12 volunteers so far, but there will be hundreds of merchants to follow up with. The more merchants we can connect with, the more prizes we will have for the Duck Race.
We will show you how to do this -- it's very easy. This can be done either in person or by phone, your choice. Most of our merchants love the Duck Race and are happy to donate prizes. A big thank you to the 12 people who have already volunteered to help. If you haven't already signed up and would like to, please let Beth know at the meeting on Thursday, or else email her at weisberg.family@verizon.net .
We will be assigning which volunteers are to contact which merchants around March 14, So please let Beth know as soon as possible if you are willing to help.

Estes Park High School
Auto Shop Program
Receives $4800
On February 26, 2024, Beth and Jim W. delivered to Estes Park High two checks, totalling $4,800, to buy a complete, 1004-piece set of Teng tools with a cabinet workstation. Two thirds of the money came from our Club's Project Funds, and one third came from our Club's Foundation funds earmarked for a qualifying community service project.
The tools are needed because finally the school has a senior master technician to teach an Auto Shop program -- something they have been trying to do for years. But the brand-new course has so far been using incomplete sets of miscellaneous tools, which has limited what types of auto repairs the students have been able to do. The $4,800 we have provided will buy a complete set of lifetime-warranted tools, as well as a toolbox to keep everything stored and organized so everything can be found efficiently -- and any tools that break will be replaced without charge. According to the teacher, TJ Appel, the new tools will allow multiple students to be able to work on cars at the same time, and will mean that the Auto Shop students will now be able to learn how to do "almost anything and everything on a car."
Principal Mary Barron, the Auto Shop students, and TJ Appel, all were there to thank us for the funds -- they were all quite excited that with this money, they will be getting the new tools soon. In fact, the students let out a spontaneous cheer when they saw us walk in with the checks. And some of the students walking out to the parking lot at the same time we were leaving, came over individually to thank us again. This grant will certainly make a difference. Well done, Rotarians!
The 2024 event on Saturday, May 4, will try to bring some peace, tranquility, and togetherness to life in the Rockies. The theme of this year’s duck race is We are Family. During these troubled times, the Duck Race Committee thought it would be appropriate to step back and honor family both in terms of our immediate families and in a broader context, as members of the family of man,” said Scott Robbins, Big Duck for the 2024 festival.
