Rut Miller is originally from Paraguay. She moved to the United States in 2012. She is a devoted wife and mother to three wonderful children 7, 5, and 3 years old. She is the Family Development Coordinator at EVICS Family Resource Center, where she uses her previous experiences to help families thrive in the Estes Park community.
Rut possesses a bachelor’s degree in Obstetrics and Maternal-Infant Health by the University of Asunción-Paraguay. It has been a rewarding journey for her to provide care for women from preconception all the way through to postpartum. She felt honored to share in the miracle of bringing babies into this world by supporting the moms and giving them safe and natural options for their birth. She also has worked as a homecare provider for the elderly, in Barcelona-Spain, Scottsbluff-Nebraska and as a childcare provider at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano-Texas.
As an immigrant in this wonderful nation, Rut knows first hand the challenges that immigrants face every day, whether it is the language barrier, housing, or job opportunities. She enjoys making the most of the opportunities that are given to her. Her passion is to serve others and to contribute positively to the Estes Park community.
When she is not working at the office, she is spending time with her family, hiking, cooking, volunteering, reading a book or learning French.
Laurie Dale Marshall made her way to the mountains by way of Lawrence, KS and Cheley Camps. She has lived in Estes Park since 2013 after raising her three children to be proud Jayhawks! A graduate of the University of Kansas’ School of Social Welfare, Laurie has always held high the role of advocate and has a passion for creative problem solving.
These passions led to both direct service and community based advocacy work. Back in KS, Laurie ensured all Kansans had access to medical care through community organizing and legislative advocacy. She worked in service to children and adults with developmental disabilities and supported early educators as a Behavior Coach. She was the Director of one of the oldest cooperative preschool programs in the Nation, which her own children also attended years before.
Prior to being the Executive Director for EVICS Family Resource Center, Laurie worked to support all Estes Valley nonprofits as the Director of the EP Nonprofit Resource Center. Laurie is the current Chairperson for the Family Advisory Board, is a member of the Estes Chamber of Commerce Board, and an Estes Arts District Board member. She sits on several regional committees to ensure the voice of our community and the needs of its citizens are not overlooked.
Laurie has utilized her skills to build programs and services that ensure all people have the ability to thrive. During the pandemic, that work was organizing a meals program that served thousands in our community. Now, it is doing what needs to be done for families in the Estes Valley.
When not leading the Resource Center, she’s enjoying nature, thrifting for treasures, and mostly reveling in being a grandmother to Chloe!

We have all been seeing the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine over these past 10 days.
Many of our members are wishing to help.
We are exploring strategies in an ongoing conversation with Chuck Bonza and Ron Gordon regarding how to provide assistance.
Chuck Bonza has a great deal of expertise in rapidly deploying funds for emergent humanitarian needs. He‘s exploring connections with Rotarians in Ukraine.
I’ll bet we discover a good strategy together as a Club!
During this busy time for the Club, we hope all will find a way to participate.
At this time, we have a strong need for:
Someone with computer skills to manage our Club’s website which has been languishing with old information and photos. (Please speak with me).
We need people to help with the Duck Race talking with merchants about prizes or in several other ways.

We’re looking for members who are willing to accept leadership roles for the coming year.

We all love the social aspects of the Club but we also love doing good for Estes Valley and the world.
Pitch in with areas you enjoy and in places you sense the greatest need!
We’ll obtain a new photo of our Club members at our meeting on March 17.

District Grants & Matching Funds
Announcement:
Our club will be eligible for up to $6,000 in matching funds from District 5440 for the upcoming 2022-2023 grant year
The District will match club funds 2 for 1 up to the eligible limit.
Clubs can submit two district grant applications per year
District grant applications are due June 3, 2022
District grant applications can be submitted for local community or international projects
Note: Any club committees who might want to pursue a district grant application and matching funds for a specific project should submit a request to the club board by the April 5 club board meeting

If you have never been to an International Convention of Rotary, you need to go to Houston in June. It is so amazing and it is often not this close to us. My husband and I attended the International Convention in Atlanta, Georgia in 2017. There were 70,000 people there from all over the world. It was so thrilling to learn of all the projects Rotary was performing worldwide, helping people improve their lives with better water supplies, better education so they could earn a living, better sanitary situations to reduce disease, on and on.
