Learn about the riskiest scams from the past year from the 2022 BBB Scam Tracker Risk Report. The report uses data submitted by consumers to BBB Scam Tracker to shed light on how scams are being perpetrated, who is being targeted, which scams have the greatest impact and much more. The BBB Risk Index helps us better understand which scams pose the highest risk by looking at three factors: exposure, susceptibility, and monetary loss. The Risk Report is a critical part of BBB's ongoing work to contribute new, useful data and analysis to further the efforts of all who are engaged in combating marketplace fraud.

President Karen Thompson called the meeting to order.
Dawn Shields was called away as the meeting began, so Karen shared a poem from The Rotarian about the meaning of our Rotary wheel symbol.
Karen led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Madison led the song “Loch Lomond”.
Bill Solms volunteered to Scribe and take meeting notes next week.

We were pleased to have former member Rick Taylor visiting us today.
John Tessler and Leslie Glover from Sunrise Rotary came today to make an announcement. Leslie is past president and now Chair of Autumn Gold Festival.
Bill Solms introduced his friend who has visited us on many occasions.
He met Steve Silverman in Florida.
Steve told us about his 44 years of Rotary activities in Boston as District Governor and club president trainer for the Northeast region.
He is a summer RV resident here and will continue to visit both clubs.

Annie introduced our presentation of Hands Only CPR by Cindy Holmes, RN, BSN, Disaster Health Services Lead of NOCO American Red Cross and Bill Howell, President Elect of the Sunrise Rotary and former Red Cross Volunteer as Community Liaison Lead for Estes Park and the Government Operations Lead for Larimer County. They demonstrated CPR techniques and we practiced it ourselves.

A Group of Volunteers Showing Off Their Work on Solar Panels for Ukraine
ESTES PARK ROTARY HELPING UKRAINIANS COMMUNICATE WITH SOLAR POWERED USB CHARGERS
The Rotary Club of Estes Park is pleased to announce a grant of $2,000.00 to help the citizens and defenders of Ukraine keep their phones and other USB devices charged and active in their heroic efforts to regain freedom for their country.
The grant is being made for a project in the United States that takes older solar panels destined for the waste stream and converts them to 4 port, standalone USB Chargers. The backs of the panels are decorated with messages of support by volunteers, and then the converted and decorated panels are sent to a distribution network in Ukraine where they are given to schools, children’s camps, medical facilities and defense units.
Project Manager Andy Lenec, a long time Rotarian of Ukrainian parentage who also recently served in the Peace Corps in Ukraine, said, “These panels have become a life saver for Ukrainians given the assault on their power grid, and the messages of support are especially heartwarming to our Ukrainian friends, who know that America has not forgotten them.”
The grant money will be used to ship additional panels to Ukraine at a cost of about $100 per panel. To date the project has shipped 81 converted panels to Ukraine, with plans to convert and ship many more in the near future. Anyone wishing to donate panels or contribute to the project financially is asked to contact the Rotary Club of Estes Park at the number above.
Friendship Card NEEDS Your Help!
There are approximately 75 local merchants who support the card by providing discounts on their products/services to cardholders. Visitors to Estes Park like to purchase the card ($10) while they are here to receive these discounts when they shop or dine. The card sales usually earns about $15,000/year for Club funds, and these are used to support all of the charitable donations we make to groups like EVICS, the Albania camps, etc.
Each year at this time we need to call on these merchants to thank them for their support and ask them to continue it for the 2024 card. If we have 10 volunteers, this means that we will each only have to contact 7-8 people. Please contact Tara if you are willing to help in this effort. The time frame for this information is October so that the cards can be printed for distribution in December.

2023-2024 Duck Race Meetings
Our Duck Race Committee will quack up for the 2024 race. We have reserved space at the Library for meetings on September 21, October 19, November 16, and December 21. Dates will be reserved for 2024 as soon as early bird reservations are available through the library. The primary item on the agenda for September is presentation of a 2024 budget. Thanks in advance to all of you who will be making the 2024 Rotary Duck Race the best ever!
