The plaque was made by Pete Sinnott to honor our members 90 years old or older.   Between the five man, they have started RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, PETS, President Elect Training Session, Duck Race, served as Rotary Presidents, designed programs for preschoolers, school age students and many fund raising projects for scholarships to present to our graduating high school seniors to assist them with the cost of higher education.  Their membership in Rotary is as follows: Virgil Holtgrewe - 64 years, Harry Livingston - 25 years, Lee Machin - 50 years, Wayne Newsom - 43 years, Jack Overly - 44 years. The Dedication reads "Cheers to our Rotarian Nonagenarians in recognition of their dedication to Service Above Self".

Suzy Blackhurst Returns to the Noon Rotary Club
 
Suzy Blackhurst
 
Suzy Blackhurst is coming back to the noon Rotary Club after five years with Sunrise Rotary.  Her reason...6:30 AM is too early in the morning!  Suzy and her husband, Eric, have one daughter, Lindsey who just was married.
 
Suzy graduated from Kansas State University with a Journalism degree and has worked in that field ever since.  You probably know her, if not for being Past President of our Rotary club in 1998-1999 and again 2010-2011, but also for marketing the town with various positions including Operations and Finance Director and Interim CEO of Visit Estes Park.
 
Suzy is currently the President of the Ranch Meadow HOA, Board of Directors Fine Arts Guild of the Rockies and many other associations.
 
Suzy has a history of being in a Rotarian family as her maternal grandfather was a Rotarian.  Her Father was a Rotarian.  Her Brother-iin-law is a Rotarian with the Longmont club.  And her husband, Eric, is a Rotarian with the Sunrise Club.  He still doesn’t mind getting up at 6:00 in the morning!
 
Besides serving as President in our club, Suzy was also Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer and President of our Foundation.  She is interested in assisting with our finances again.

I'd like to invite you all to join our weekly Zoom call with our Ukrainian friends tomorrow at 10:00am MST (19:00 Ukraine time). Please also feel free to invite others who may be interested in our cause to join our call.

We'll have a brief presentation from one of my dearest friends in the world, Iryna Chechko, on the state of education in Ukraine since the invasion, an update of the fantastic presentation she gave a few months ago. Ira (as I call her) was my Language & Cultural Facilitator in the Peace Corps and has become very dear to me ever since we met. She's the person who sent me the video from the security cam that I used in my PowerPoint presentation, and the person who said the words that are forever imprinted on my heart: "Don't let the world forget about Ukraine!"

I'd also love it if those of you who have started or are considering projects for Ukraine (Tracey and Bill, Dave, Ken, others?) could give us all updates and let us know if you need any help. 6560812

Volunteer to Help with the Rotary Float!
 
Hello Fellow Rotarians!!
 
We are coming down to the wire for the COWBOY SALUTE TO VETERANS float and parade!  I am so excited for ANYONE to join us in planning, designing, and scheduling some “building days” to get this all done!!  There are a couple of banners that we will use to display a DUCKIE theme and of course the AUTUMN GOLD theme…We could also do the polio theme if someone knows where we can get the small iron lung…(I know it has been a constant theme before, but knowing how much money was raised at the district conference by our district alone, there is still a prevalent need)…I know it was at an arts and craft show last summer.
 
Let’s all plan to wear RED, WHITE, and BLUE with as much detail as possible!!  Socks, hats, shirts, shoes, jewelry, necklaces etc. unless we want to try to get an order in for some Rotary shirts….not sure we have time….I have 11 buckets that could be decorated Red, White, and Blue too….we’ll probably use these to toss candy (from the walkers not from the float)….I also have the Lucky Ducky outfit to be worn by someone or for me to wear…Hope it’s not scorching!
 
Bill Smith has some flags for us from the Legion…and I have some other odds and ends to share as well…(Thanks, Bill!) I’m wondering if we want some patriotic music playing on a blue tooth speaker as we roll along?? We could also see who of our scholarship recipients might be available to ride on the float advertising our profits from these two fundraisers??  Just a thought…
 
My husband will help with any lumber we have as he has a lot….however, does anyone else have a pile we might borrow from?  We are thinking of a triangular frame on the trailer (it is 7 x 16) maybe with hinges to be stored easier from year to year…other ideas are MOST WELCOME!  It sounds as though we may have two smaller banners and one larger banner to use as well.  Plus we’ll be handing out little duckies to the kids and some candy!
