Kevin Mullin recommended Thursday’s program It will be an overall introduction of Hope Lives, it’s program and services, and how it might be able to support and collaborate with the Estes Valley.
Elise reports that she is thrilled to be a part of the staff and mission of Hope Lives! Not only does she have a passion for helping people and giving back, but unfortunately like most, she too, has had various family members and friends affected by breast cancer. Elise brings more than 20 years of managerial, training, and customer service experience in both the corporate and non-profit sectors. Most recently, she held the position of Volunteer Coordinator in Weld county for Pathways Hospice.
According to Elise, “I enjoy companioning with clients and the community providing much needed support, especially during these challenging times when world events can often overshadow everyday needs. Since moving back to Northern Colorado, I have been reminded about what a generous and special place this is and I’m excited to see what our future holds!”

Tara Moenning said all is ready for the Shred a thon and town recycle day August 12 at the Event Center lot.
Note, much of the electronic recycling is free this year due to a grant from Sunrise Rotary.
Scrap metal accepts many mixed material products as long as iron or steel is a certain part of it.
No paint recycle any more.

Ron Gordon referred to the article in our Spoke about the club board approved $2,000 for 20 refurbished solar panels for Ukraine, so people can charge their cell phones.
Karen said she needs volunteers to contact all the merchants to renew participation in Friendship Card for next year.
We need to be ready for sale by December 1 for Christmas presents.
We earn $12,000-15,000 a year from this project.
Karen needs volunteers to sell beer at Elkfest September 30 and October 1.
We earn $2,500-3,000 from this.
Thanks to Estes Park Brewery which handles the supply so well for us.
Jim Austin announced this is the monthly shelter box solicitation and invited us to match his $10.
Karen suggested we might want to sponsor the Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament next year since we are a member
Annie reminded us about the deadline of September 1 to attend our Lazy B Wranglers chuck wagon dinner and western music program.
This is a social with Sunrise Rotary and we have 48 reserved between the two clubs.

Wayne Newsom is happy to be here with wife Pat today to celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary!
He put in $71 + 29 forward to make it 100 and said he would not be coming back for any refund later.

Jim Austin enjoyed their 8 week’s travels and is also happy to be back.
He notes his granddaughter has visited the Ukraine and will prepare a future program for us of her visit there.

The devastating Marshall fires in Boulder County, Colorado are still fresh in our minds. Now it has happened again on the Hawaiian Island of Maui.
Our hearts go out to those impacted by these disastrous fires. Many Rotarians are directly impacted. There are nine Rotary clubs on Maui and at this point it has been reported that the homes of two Club Presidents have been destroyed.
Early in a disaster, often the most effective way to help is a contribution of cash to a trustworthy and reliable organization. The District 5000 Foundation has established a Maui Relief Fund. Attached is the letter District Governor Mark Merriam sent to all the Rotary members in District 5000. DG Mark’s letter includes a donation link: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=6C4K2SDUY8FUG and QR code to make contributions to the Maui Relief Fund. Fun Volunteer Opportunity at MacGregor Ranch
Celebrating 150 year Anniversary
Wednesday, August 23, 2023
5 to 9 PM
MacGregor Ranch will be celebrating its 150th anniversary of operations with a free community picnic on August 23, 2023 from 5 - 9 p.m. Established in 1873 by Alexander and Clara MacGregor, the ranch is inviting the Estes Park community to come together and honor one of the earliest families who made many impacts on our town's development. MacGregor Ranch has asked our club to provide as many volunteers as possible to direct parking before the event (and then stay for the fun)!
There will be live music by Chain Station & Lost Penny; a children's area; and an oldtime taffy pull sponsored by The Taffy Shop. Food trucks will be available, or you can bring your own picnic dinner. Dessert will be provided by MacGregor Ranch and You Need Pie. Beer will be for sale from Lumpy Ridge Brewery, Avante Garde Aleworks, and Rock Cut Brewing.
Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and a sack meal. And you'll be helping MacGregor Ranch all at the same time. What could be better than that?

Can You Help Fund Solar Panels for Ukraine Project?

What is needed: Smaller, older modules, preferably used, so we can take them out of the waste stream. 32 or 36 cells, 50-120 watts, around 18” by 40”. These will be refurbished and mounted on a portable board, the back of which will be decorated with greetings, drawings, photos and other messages of encouragement to let the Ukrainians who receive them know that they will not be forgotten! Jim will have a poundage number for us after he takes them down to the Recycle Center.
