Committee Meeting Day
September 23, 2021

Back on ZOOM for Now!!

Our program this week will be held on Zoom due to COVID break through infections in three of the American Legion employees . Click on the link below to be admitted.

Update by President Jim Whiteneck
Announcements:

  • With a COVID threat, this week has been quite a challenge for all. I’m very grateful for everyone who helped contacting other members, etc. to cancel our meeting with only 1 1/2 hours before it was scheduled to begin.
  • As an update, there were three total cases of COVID among the American Legion staff. Although many people who met with these infected staff members have been tested, NONE have been positive.
  • I am really proud of the club for our flexibility and our helping each other out. I am especially grateful to Bill Smith for “manning the door“ at the American Legion to ward off any members who didn’t get notification of the canceled meeting.
  • Next week our meeting will be entirely virtual with Scott Thompson hosting.
  • The following week is a fifth Thursday and we will not meet.
  • Our next scheduled meeting will be October 7 which should be plenty of time to ensure safety.
  • The Visioning Committee will meet at our home on Wednesday, September 22 at 5 PM.
  • Don't forget about the Club Social at Snowy Peaks Winery!
It’s an unusual time we live in! Going forward, we will meet Virtually when we have to and in a Hybrid fashion when it’s safe.

We have a strong Club and I am very proud to be part of it!

Golf Tournament Call to Action
Fellow Rotarians:

Thank you Thank you Thank you for donating to and/or sponsoring our Annual Golf Tournament which will be held on Saturday, September 25.
As I have announced at our recent meetings, this is the first time the Foundation does not have sufficient monies on deposit to fully fund our 2022 Scholarship recipients.  That is why, as President of the Foundation, I found it imperative to seek your assistance.  YOU STEPPED UP!
I cannot and will not take my foot off the gas pedal ---if you have not already donated or sponsored the Tournament this year -  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE consider giving.  Our young people have worked hard to pursue a higher education.  I for one am proud to help them achieve their goal.  They are our future.

Remember this year any first time Bronze, Silver or Gold sponsors will receive a handmade bowl crafted by our own Pete Sinnott.  Our young people need the money, but I really want Pete to spend 24/7/364 (he can take Christmas off) crafting bowls.

Service above Self – Thanks again.

Rotary in Russia

Announcement:

  • Consider signing up for the next citizen diplomacy trip back to Russia.
  • This US-Russia effort has been going on since 1983, formalized in 1995 with State Department monies; Milt Garrett's involvement began in 1998.
  • This invitation for us is to come to Russia as citizen ambassadors for 15 days next June 5-20, 2022.
  • Rotary has a history of international interaction as 49 Rotarians were part of crafting the United Nations charter.  Rotary has grown in Russia to 50 clubs since it began there in 1983.
  • You will need to fund yourself and the cost is $3,000-5,000 depending on what level of flight and lodging you want.
  • If interested contact Milt at gmilt3@gmailcom and write in the subject line: "Citizen Diplomacy Mission to Russia."
Help Needed!

Our Club needs a Little Duck, someone to step up and take responsibility for assisting our current Big Duck, Beth Weisberg, and then be willing to serve as Big Duck next year!
Our Club needs someone to write articles for the papers, about the Duck Race and about events in our meetings like new members, Paul Harris awards, etc.  Dale Bonza has been doing this since Rita left but Dale is busy with FEMA and Hurricane Ida. She could use some help.
Our Club needs one to two new Scribes, to take notes during our meetings.  We have recently lost Rita and now Dale.  Are you able to do this job?  It means taking notes and then summarizing them for the Spoke once a month.
Our Club needs a photographer to catch pictures as they occur.
Our Club needs a Sergeant-At-Arms, a person who preserves order and executes commands.  In the Sunrise Club, the Sergeant-At-Arms makes money for the club and has fun at the same time by fining people for wearing shorts in cold weather or forgetting a jacket at an event!

Are you able to perform one of these jobs?  Please contact President Jim Whiteneck if you are available.

And a BIG THANK YOU!!  Remember "Service Above Self"
