Update by President Jim Whiteneck
Announcements:
Fire Chief Dave Wolf gave an outstanding presentation on the Cameron Peak and Troublesome fires this past year. They played a remarkable role in saving homes in the Glen Haven area. We are extremely grateful for their work in the past and going forward!
Great news: Dr Mel Rueppel has stepped up to be our Sergeant at Arms this year. We are delighted to have him on board! We will look forward to what mischievous plans he has for us!
Mark Lee is not only involved with our Club technology but will be helping this year with event photography. We are very grateful to Mark for assisting in this needed area!
Please make a special effort to attend our Club meetings on November 4 and November 18. During those meetings we will be developing our Vision for the coming years. Sally Park will be assisting us. Your input is critical in this process.
We have three important remaining spots to fill. The first spot is “Little Duck”. Several members of the Club are diligently working to seek partnerships as we plan to proceed with this event. As a consequence, we’re hoping that the work will be much more broadly distributed. We’re striving to allow the Duck Race leadership to plan this race with a significantly reduced commitment of time and energy.
The second position that needs 2 volunteers involves more Scribes. We have three people volunteering to scribe (take notes during the Club meeting). As a consequence, they rotate more frequently than once a month. If we had two more people willing to help with this task, it would only occur about once every 1 1/2 months. We would be most grateful if you could help us with these notes. “Many hands make easy work”!
The third position is a person to write articles for the newspaper. Dale Bonza is doing this in between her full time work with FEMA and would appreciate help.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone next Thursday!
