Karen moved from Greeley to Estes Park in 2008, and began work as the Executive Assistant in the Community Development Department for the Town of Estes Park. This is the department where the Development Code, development plans and building permits, the Planning Commission and several other volunteer boards are administered and supported. Although she no longer works at Town Hall, she still has an interest in what is going on in local government, and believes it important for residents to be educated and informed about topics that affect all of us.
In 2021, she applied and was accepted to be a part of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (ComPAC), made up of town and county residents, Planning Commission members, and Town and County Staff. Consultants were hired to gather information from the community and bring it all together in a 20-year comprehensive plan for Estes Park and the surrounding area. Part of this includes community outreach to gather information about what the residents want Estes Park to look like 20 years down the road (transportation, open space, development, housing, guest experience, aesthetics, etc.)
Joining Karen will be Jessica Garner, Community Development Director. Garner holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning as well as a Master of Urban Design from the University of Colorado at Denver. She also holds a certificate in Historic Preservation and is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners. She has more than 19 years of experience in planning and development services in both the public and private sectors. Garner’s career experience includes work in Colorado as well as California, where she served as the Planning Manager for the City of Milpitas.

Duck Race Kickoff Night
Kickoff Night for the Duck Race will be held on Zoom only, Thursday, March 3 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

66 participating Organizations and anyone else who wants to join, will hear the Mayor issue a Proclamation declaring May 7, 2022 Estes Park Rotary Duck Race Day

the new features of our online duck adoption system
how to use them and
more information about the Duck Race will be presented.
Online duck adoptions may be purchased starting at 6:00 p.m. on March 3, on the Duck Race website at www.epduckrace.org .
Please adopt ducks and tell all of your friends and family.

Volunteers Needed for Merchant Prize Collection

District Grants & Matching Funds
Announcement:
Our club will be eligible for up to $6,000 in matching funds from District 5440 for the upcoming 2022-2023 grant year
The District will match club funds 2 for 1 up to the eligible limit.
Clubs can submit two district grant applications per year
District grant applications are due June 3, 2022
District grant applications can be submitted for local community or international projects
Note: Any club committees who might want to pursue a district grant application and matching funds for a specific project should submit a request to the club board by the April 5 club board meeting

If you have never been to an International Convention of Rotary, you need to go to Houston in June. It is so amazing and it is often not this close to us. My husband and I attended the International Convention in Atlanta, Georgia in 2017. There were 70,000 people there from all over the world. It was so thrilling to learn of all the projects Rotary was performing worldwide, helping people improve their lives with better water supplies, better education so they could earn a living, better sanitary situations to reduce disease, on and on.
