Update from President Anne Slack I like to keep you informed about what goes on at the Board Meetings. We had to vacate the Wasson Room at the Library, and Gregg Jurgens graciously offered for us to meet at his Quality Inn motel. So that is where we will be for the rest of this year. We approved the normal reports of the December Minutes and Treasurer’s Report. I reported on our upcoming meetings on January 23 and 30 and how we were going to accomplish a work session on the results of the Membership Satisfaction Surveys. Under Old Business we addressed a change of vote for Ron Gordon on two motions from the November meeting. We followed Robert’s Rules of Order to do it correctly. Under New Business we discussed extending our meeting time. At the library we were always under a restriction due to some other entity having scheduled the Wasson Room after our Board Meeting; but at Gregg’s motel, we were free to expand our meeting time. We have had several meeting where we were rushing through topics and we thought a longer period of time would be better. In the end the Board decided to keep the meetings to an hour with the flexibility to expand if necessary. Scott Robbins brought up the idea of developing a Consent Agenda which is under consideration. Reports from our Committees were next. - Membership: Scott Robbins told how the Public Image Committee is working to increase our club’s awareness in the community.
- Club Administrator and Sergeant at Arms had no report.
- International Service: Ron Gordon presented his Locally Haiti project grant request. This subject had been voted on by email and approved with $572 from Project Funds and $1428 to come from the Foundation’s Budgeted Designated Funds for International purposes if approved by the Foundation Board.
- Community Service: Beth Weisberg reported the Blue Santa check for $750 was delivered. Bright Christmas was successful with $1465 contributed by our club members..
- Duck Race: Scott Thompson reported:a Social at Bob Fulton’s house for the Broncos game at 11 a.m. this Sunday. 53 organizations have responded to participate in the Duck Race. The existing storage shed is empty. Exodus Moving has donated two shipping containers for our use, The Estes Park Fairgrounds is allowing us to store them at the fairgrounds at no cost. We are changing the sponsor opportunities. We also hope to have an official lodging partner. The Duck Race website is up and running, and people can adopt ducks now. There is concern that the Duck Squat may legally need a gaming coordinator from the State Gaming Commission. Annie to investigate. Weekly meeting at Scott’s office on Wednesdays at 3 p.m.
Karen will send Dave Evans a copy of a photo of the new Friendship Card to add to the Spoke.
