What does the Conservancy do for RMNP?
Estee Rivera Murdock to present on Aug. 17

The Rocky Mountain Conservancy promotes stewardship of Rocky Mountain National Park through education and philanthropy. The Rocky Mountain Conservancy (formerly the Rocky Mountain Nature Association) was established on July 8, 1931, making it one of the oldest national park cooperating organizations in the nation. Since its foundation, the organization has funded over $30 million of support for Rocky Mountain National Park and related public lands.

Estee Rivera Murdock, Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Conservancy, will speak at the Rotary Club of Estes Park on Thursday, August 17, at their regular noon meeting. Murdock will provide an overview of the Conservancy, review recent contributions to the Park and community, and discuss challenges and opportunities for the organization.

Happy Money
  • Bruce Carmichael was happy that Longley Parker corrected his vision.
  • Rita DuChateau is happy about Salud Clinic’s 25th anniversary newsletter.  Several in our club are on their board and the newsletter got her a donation.
  • Bill Solms is happy is wife’s colonoscopy went well and that his friend Steve Silverman is visiting.
  • Steve added that he enjoyed wildlife photography here and all over the country and he is happy his Boston Red Sox are in first place.
  • Doug Mann took the bait and put in money for the Chicago Cubs.
Video
Ann Slack introduced a powerful video from Rotary International Foundation highlighting our century of giving worldwide. She attended the convention and was overwhelmed by the large numbers of Rotarians there are worldwide doing good things.

Program
Dana Fritz introduced our speakers Mark Davis and Bill Murphy. Mark is president and founder of Foresight Ski Guides and Bill has been a volunteer guide for 35 years. They guide and equip blind and visually impaired people skiing. Mark formed Foresight in 2000 to save and reorganize this program at Vail when the new Vail owners were going to drop it.

Rotarians at work on 8/5/17

Rotary Quote of the Week

"The Foundation started with a simple idea: to do good in the world. One hundred years later, we know the story of what happened - as we have learned during this year's celebration of the Foundation's centennial. During those years, Rotarians have raised and invested more than $4.1 billion in thousands of programs, projects, and scholarships. In short, the Foundation is a living history of the power of one idea. A Rotarian shares an idea with his or her club, and - with the help of grant money from the Foundation - amazing things happen."
