Brand new Estes Valley Community Center: a preview

Our featured speaker this week will be Tom Carosello, Executive Director of the Estes Valley Recreation and Park Department. He will provide an update on the new Estes Valley Community Center and the offerings available, as well as pertinent financial information.

Tom Carosello

Carosello was hired as the executive director for Estes Valley Recreation and Park District in the fall of 2015 after serving as the parks and recreation director for the Town of Pagosa Springs for nine years. Prior to his career in parks and recreation, he was a journalist and grant writer who covered local sports, environmental and government issues in Ohio, Arizona and Colorado. He has a B.A. in Sports Journalism and Public Relations from The Ohio State University.

People can visit www.allwhodare.com to see the trailer and more information about the film.  It recently won best short documentary at the Frozen Film Festival in Minneapolis!  Rotary member Jeff Liddle added, "This is the same film we screened at the Stanley Hotel in September.  I think most rotarians missed it because we didn’t quite get the word out in time and the registration was a little confusing.  This one should be easy for our members…since it is at the park."
It is our sad duty to inform you of the death of one of our members. Bill Lodge died early Saturday morning, March 3, 2018. Bill is a long time member of our club and former Sergeant at Arms. Health issues have prevented him from being active in the last several years. Among Bill’s survivors is his wife, Laura. Funeral arrangements are pending. Please think of Bill's family this week.
All welcome as volunteers!
Help the Duck Race Festival

Everyone knows the Estes Park Rotary Duck Race Festival is the place to be on the first Saturday in May. But, did you know that you do not have to be a Rotarian to help? That's right, Rotarians! You can invite your friends to help.

“We welcome volunteers who can give a few hours on Friday, May 4 and/or Saturday, May 5. No special skills are required except a positive attitude,” said Scott Thompson, Estes Park Rotary Duck Race Festival volunteer coordinator.

Thompson is looking for volunteers to help with:
  • Setting up and taking down equipment at the start and finish lines
  • Selling duck-themed race memorabilia at Bond Park and Riverside Plaza
  • Supporting operations in Bond Park for charities and organizations
  • Helping to display sponsor ducks
  • Ensuring safety along the riverbanks
  • Keeping the ducks from getting snagged in the river.
To sign up as a volunteer, contact Thompson at scott@estesparkrealestate.com or call him at 970-590-9941.
