Growing Communities Together

Our program this week will be held in person, but a Zoom link will be provided. Click on the link below to be admitted.  Keep in mind that we will be starting at 12:00 p.m., no earlier.

Lori Gosselin comes to us from Ottawa, Ontario. She is the author of two books, The Happy Place and Sounding the Drum: Community Building in the Digital Age. Since 2014, she has been developing the Community building process, a method of facilitating the evolution of a group into Community. In 2019 she graduated with her Master of Organizational Management degree and formed a company to help her fulfill her mission to spread Community consciousness around the globe. In her talks, Lori introduces the power of Community building to make organizations more cohesive, collaborative, and creative.

Update from President Jim Whiteneck

It was great to be meeting in person this past week. Unfortunately, due to technical issues, our nine attendees on Zoom were essentially excluded - a problem we hope to fix so that this week's program is clear and easy to see and hear. Next week's presenter will be attending by Zoom, as well. Please bring your own lunch and drink if attending in person.

  • The meeting on July 22nd, our Committee meetings, will be entirely on Zoom.
  • The 5th Thursday (July 29th) there is no meeting.
  • We are hoping to have our arrangements with the American Legion completed this week so that we can begin to meet full time at this new location.
  • Looking forward to our Visioning process to begin in September.  “It’s Great to all be rowing the same direction!”
Have a wonderful week and we’ll see you at US Bank of July 15! Caprissa at US Bank said that we could use up to 10 parking spots near the ATM location out front of the bank. Don’t park next to the bank or in the north west area of the parking lot, as those are reserved.

July 8, 2021 Meeting Notes

The first hybrid meeting of the 2021-22 year was not without challenges, but all who attended would agree it was great to come together in person at US Bank. With little time to set up for Zoom  participation, some technical issues ensued. Those who attended enjoyed pizza, salad and iced tea provided by Caprissa Frawley, the US Bank manager. The speaker, Angel Hoffman, gave a presentation on Alzheimer's and it was excellent. She is very knowledgeable.

All in all, Jim did an amazing job for his first meeting and with all the audio-visual complications.

The club needs some volunteers to handle publicity, the website and Facebook page. Thanks to Anne Slack and Dale Bonza, your weekly newsletter will continue the tradition of excellence.

The Duck Race has found a new publicity person, Leslie Botha of Loveland. She will handle social media, but may need some help with writing the articles.

General Publicity for the club: grants, awards, programs, membership, Golf Tournament, Friendship Card - whatever the board requests.

Club Website- updating, probably best done in conjunction with The Spoke.

Club Facebook Page - updating it with articles on our programs, club news, interesting items from R.I., photos of community service projects, etc.
