Notes from the President
For the last few years we have not scheduled speakers for the 4th Thursdays, in order to allow committees to meet during our regular meeting time. I would like to revisit this with the club to determine if this schedule is still effective, worthwhile, and financially sensible. Keep in mind that we are obligated to pay the Legion for 20 meals each week that we meet, whether or not we have 20 people eating lunch at every meeting. The meetings on the 4th Thursdays have had much lower attendance than the first three meetings of each month. Please put some thought into this and be prepared to discuss it at a future meeting in August. I encourage you to share your opinions with me regarding this possible change, and look forward to weighing the pros and cons with each of you. Pryvit, Friends and Heroes! This is a reminder about our weekly Zoom call on Monday, 17 July, at 10:00am MST, 19:00 Ukraine time. I’ve invited Oksana Petrukh and members of the Lviv International Club to join our call and share their work. Those of you in the Estes Park Club remember Oksana from my presentation. She has taken several trips to the Eastern front and is a true young hero of Ukraine. She will be traveling that day and may not have an internet connection, but if she does she has some fascinating and inspiring videos to share.
We may also have a presentation from a club in Wyoming that would be the first to totally replicate our solar panel conversion project, a dream come true for Rich Stromberg and myself.
On another note, I wanted to tell you all that I will be having hip replacement surgery on Thursday, July 27, and these calls may be temporarily suspended for at least a few weeks, depending on my recuperation. Please keep me in your prayers, especially on July 27.
