Update by President Dennis Gellhaus
A special thanks to Tara and Phil, the Foundation, and everyone involved in the scholarship giving this year. Over $50,000 was given to support of those deserving students. What an accomplishment!
There is still time to get into all or part of the District Conference being held at the Ridgeline, June 8-10. Registration closes on May 31st. If you have yet to attend a DC, I know you will enjoy it!
Our slate of officers is set for our coming Rotary year. We would love to have someone step up to be our Sergeant-at-arms; the only position to fill. The duties are setting up the physical venue for our meetings, ie. The 4 way test banner, rotary banner, bell, and scholarship board and take down. Also seeing that the room is ready for the meeting. This would be a big help to our President. This is a Board position.
Thanks for listening
Dennis

Our Scholarship Graduates 2023
Fazeel Bhatti
I thought you might want to read what Fazeel wrote to me in 2021.
"Dear Anne Slack,
I gratefully accept the Rotary Scholarship. Thank You so much for selecting me for the Scholarship. It will help me a great deal in the Fall Semester of 2021. Thank you so much for your investment in my future. I will work my hardest to value this scholarship. I am eager to learn new skills, overcome nursing challenges, and be the best nurse that I can be. I am originally from Pakistan and a first generation student at the University of Northern Colorado. I graduated from Estes park High School with the dream of becoming a nurse. There was no better school in Colorado for nursing other than UNC so I decided to apply here. After the constant grit and hard work of 2 years of prerequisites, I was finally accepted into the school of Nursing at UNC.
I have recently finished my first semester of nursing school at UNC and I hope to finish my fall semester strong as well. The financial support of this scholarship will certainly lessen the stress and burden of college tuition and housing for me and help me concentrate on my studies better. I will never forget that I am also an ambassador, representing this scholarship wherever I go, and I look forward to the time when I can repay the society for the opportunities I have been granted. I feel truly honored. I am hoping to become a very successful Nurse Anesthetist one day, with a prosperous future who can add value to mankind.
I would like to take this opportunity to once again, thank The Rotary Family for this highly valuable scholarship.
Thanks for your time,
Sincerely,
Fazell Bhatti".
We are hoping to hear from Molly Morgan and Annalise Basch, our other two Academic Scholarship Winners from 2018.
We need your help. We have several positions available for someone to assume.

Support Lawrence Trifiletti Raising Funds
for St. Jude's in the San Diego Half Marathon
June 4, 2023
Lawrence Trifiletti
I am raising money for St Jude's by running the San Diego Half Marathon. I have chosen to run for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the kids and families at St. Jude. I am training to cross the finish line on race day and with your donation we can cross the fundraising finish line together because the money you donate helps find a cure for childhood cancer.
Did you know:
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal of $500. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
Do you know a Club Member who needs assistance? Maybe a ride to meetings, or just a phone call to keep in touch? Please contact Bill Smith 970-420-1033 or billsmithbronx1956@gmail.com.
Find Your Rotary Member Number
Do you know your member number? I will be inserting one member's number in the Spoke somewhere each week. If you find your number and let me know, I will add a dollar to the Happy Money jar. Have fun reading the Spoke!
