Rotary District 5440
Karen initially joined Rotary in 1990 as a member of the Fort Collins Rotary Club in Colorado. While in that club, she served as chair of several committees, including International Youth Exchange and Scholarships. She resigned after several years to commute daily to Denver for work. She rejoined Rotary in 2014 as a member of the Fort Collins Foothills Club (CO) and has served in the roles of Board member, Club Secretary, Club President (2020-2021), as well as serving on the Fort Collins Peach Festival Committee. Serving as President during the Covid “lock-down” was a true privilege.
She served as Assistant Governor for the Fort Collins clubs in District 5440 for a year before being nominated by her club and selected to serve as District Governor in 2025-2026. She is proud to be a Paul Harris Fellow and Sustaining Member. Karen served as a senior executive in the credit union and health care industries with 45+ years’ experience in marketing and communications, people development, strategic planning, and operations. Today, she consults part-time with non-profits and organizations in communications, fundraising and issues management. Karen currently serves on the boards for SummitStone Health Partners (the community behavioral health center for Larimer County, Colorado); the Mental Health Substance Use Alliance of Larimer County; and Western Colorado University’s Mountaineer Football Alumni Association.
Karen holds a B.A. degree from Colorado State University. Karen is married to Dick Morgan, a retired high school educator and coach in Fort Collins, Colorado. They have two adult children (no in-laws or “grands” yet). Dick and Karen are avid sports enthusiasts and enjoy traveling. And you’ll often find Karen swinging a golf club for fun.
DGN Karen will make a few remarks on our District structure and the Rotary International Action Plan followed by an interactive dialogue with club members to learn more about our club successes, plans, and challenges. “As your District Leadership team, we want to understand how we can support our clubs in the important and meaningful work you do in your communities. “

There will be a project meeting at Fairview High School in Boulder on Oct. 7 to make solar panels for Ukraine.
Friendship cards are in progress so keep working on lining up businesses.
Lazy B sent a check for $320 to the club’s scholarship fund.
Suzy and Eric Blackhurst’s daughter Lindsey will give a concert Oct. 21, 7:00 p.m. at the High School.

Paul Harris Award Presentation: Jack Ford discussed the wonderful contributions of Rotary International to projects around the world such as the one focused on cleaning up our environment. Those projects are made possible due to donations made by Rotarians such as club members Karol Rinehart, Annie Slack, and Beth Weisberg. He presented Karol with a Paul Harris pin plus 1, Annie Slack and Beth Weisberg with Paul Harris Award pins plus 2.

Elf Fest Huge Success
What happens when you combine beautiful fall colors, perfect weather, the elk rut, and half of the people that live on the Front Range? A very successful Elk Fest! The Wallowing Hole was the place to be, thanks to great beer from Estes Park Brewery. Our club grossed over $5000 from the sale of beer, soda, and water during the two day festival. We’ll let you know the net total after all expenses have been paid.
Thank you to all the volunteers that made this event successful. Especially Tim Moore and Jim Austin, who were there all day, both days! It was fun—glad it’s done!! And to top it off—the Broncos WON!!

Ukraine Solar Panel Conversion/Decoration October 7, 2023
Hello Friends of Ukraine. I am pleased to announce that we will be holding our 4th large solar panel conversion / decoration event
At 10:00 AM at Fairview HS in Boulder on Saturday, Oct. 7
At 10:30am we will hear from a group of students from the Odesa / Kherson region in Ukraine via Zoom.
You will hear directly from the people we are sending panels to how important our support is to them.
We'll also be collecting winter supplies for Sunflower Seeds for Ukraine (https://www.sunflowerseedsukraine.org/), with whom this project is now officially partnered.
Come to our event and hear from Ukrainians how important these solar panels, and especially your messages of support, are to them.
We will have around 20 panels to convert and decorate, but there is still time for you to purchase additional panels to bring to our event.
The Renogy 50 watt panels that we will be converting are on sale on Amazon for $39.95, with a limit of 4 per purchaser.
The converters we use are also available on Amazon for $12.99 each.
Your gift of these items to the event will be very much appreciated, and will allow us to send even more panels to schools, hospitals, villages and defenders of Ukraine.
