Rotary Weekly Luncheon
Place: American Legion
 Time:  Lunch served from 11:30 - 12:00
 Cost:  $15
 Parking:  American Legion and the church only.

  • Beth Weisberg will provide a recap of the Duck Race.
  • Chuck Bonza will recap Josh the Baby Otter.
  • Gregg Jurgens will recap Scholarships since Tara will be gone.

As you are considering how to participate in building and in serving in our Club this coming year, we’ll review some of the exciting accomplishments that have taken place recently. We are having a very positive impact in Estes Valley and beyond. Your Committee Chairs are determined to lead us in fun and important ways of making a difference next year.  I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone decides to connect with each other going forward!

President Jim Whiteneck rang the bell at 11:55.

RJ was welcomed as a New Member in the Estes Park Rotary Club.

  • Beth Weisberg announced
    • the Duck Race Wrap-up meeting next Thursday, May 26 at 5:00 PM.
    • Beth also asked for volunteers for the Art Market Memorial Day weekend.
  • Scott Thompson, volunteer Sergeant-at-Arms announced that there would be no fines today, only Happy Money.
  • John Minier from the American Legion presented information about programs at the A.L. this summer.
Happy Money:
  • Dennis Gellhaus is happy that Grant Delbecq could attend.
  • Kathy Groesbeck is happy to be celebrating  her 50th wedding anniversary next week.
  • Pete Sumey agrees with Scott Thompson that emphases should be placed on Happy Money.
  • Big Duck Beth Weisberg is very pleased with the record proceed distribution to the Duck Race charities.
  • Annie Slack is happy with the recent scholarship presentation program.

Scholarship Awards Night
May 17, 2022
 
The following 10 scholarships were awarded on Tuesday evening, May 17th, at the Awards Ceremony at the High School.  Jim Whitehead and Annie Slack did a wonderful job in their presentation.  We were honored to have seven of them at our meeting on Thursday, and Atlas Rhode even brought us donuts!
 
Academic Scholarships recipients:  
  • Atlas Rhode
  • Gabriel Landkamer
  • Simon Igel
  • each receiving $8,000 ($2,000/year for four years)
The Brunson-Thorp Memorial Scholarship:
  • Nolan Marske
  • receiving $4,000 ($2,000/year for two years)
The Carver Family Vocational Scholarship:
  • Makana Land
  • receiving $2,000 ($1,000/year for two years)
The Lynn Coffman Memorial Scholarship:  
  • Jonah Burdick
  • receiving $1,500
The Lee and Alice Hagemeister Memorial Scholarship:
  • Brandon Marquart
  • receiving $1,500
  • (this an Eagle Scout award)                 
The Karol Rinehart Scholarships:  
  • Gissel Escoria
  • Emmanuel Gutierrez
  • receiving $4,000 each ($2,000/year for two years)
  • these students are the first in their families to attend college
  • they may apply for another $4,000 if they wish to attend an additional two years to complete a four year undergraduate program
The Ron Kuhns Memorial Scholarship:
  • Ben Ferree
  • receiving $2,500
The total given this year is $43,500—an outstanding year of which all Rotarians may be extremely proud.

Duck Race Wrap-Up Meeting
Thursday, May 26, 2022

The Duck Race Committee will have its wrap-up meeting on Scott’s Zoom at 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 26.

  • We will cover lessons learned in this Duck Race
  • vote on how many new ducks to purchase for future races
  • then Bill Solms will talk about next year’s Duck Race

  • Annual dues invoices were sent out through ClubRunner.
  • Due back by June 27 to be able to report our club membership count to Rotary International as of June 30.
  • Dues remain at $290 for the year and can be paid by check or by credit card ($300 if using a CC)
