It's so easy to attend a club meeting from the comfort of your home as you reconnect with Rotary friends. Over 20 members participated in the June 4 meeting on the Zoom online meeting platform. Let's break that record. President Doug will be presiding over the meeting from his conference room, and the June 11 meeting will be by Zoom only (no in-person attendees).
One of the advantages of Zoom is that you can see and hear everyone who is in the meeting and you can also actively participate. You may use a computer, tablet, or smart phone to access the meeting. You can join the meeting on Thursday simply by clicking on the link below as early as 11:45 a.m. Although the meeting doesn't actually begin until noon, coming a little early will give us the opportunity to greet each other informally. After you click on the link you will go into a waiting room until you are admitted by Scott Thompson, our 'Zoom host." If you haven't used Zoom before, Rick Taylor is willing to work one-on-one with you anytime between now and next Wednesday to help get you comfortable with the process. Call or email him to set up a practice session. He can be reached at ricktaylormath@gmail.com or at 832.758.8667. You can also call Rick during the meeting itself if you experience a problem.
Here is the link you'll need to gain access to the meeting on Zoom:
As a reminder, there will be NO meetings on June 18, 25 and July 2. Our next meeting will be July 9.

Action-packed meeting set for noon Thursday
This week's meeting will be a celebration of our club's Rotary year, announcement of this year's awards, and a program. What more could you want? Lunch maybe? That will have to wait until Bill Solms tells us we can meet at Nicky's again.
As you many know, Presidents' Night, originally scheduled for June 18, has been postponed until we can safely schedule a festive gathering with our club members and special friends. But rather than wait to announce this year's awards, President Doug Mann will present them this week.
In addition to the awards, Doug will bid us farewell as President and hand the gavel over to Incoming President Bill Solms. So buckle up, it's going to be a fun meeting!
Our program, "Adventure, Leadership, and Rotary," will be presented by Mandy Fabel, District 5440 Membership Co-Chair.
Mandy Fabel
Fabel is a resident of Lander, Wyoming who is passionate about leadership, outdoor adventures and Rotary. She serves as the Executive Director of Leadership Wyoming as well as the Membership Chair for her local Rotary Club and the Co-Chair of the District Membership Committee for District 5440. In her free time Mandy enjoys playing outside with her husband Brian as they climb rocks and ride mountain bikes, dirt bikes and snowmobiles.

Galileo DuMont, Academic Scholarship
Biology/Chemistry/Pre-Med, St. Olaf College
Ultimately, I would like a career where I can apply my interest in science as well as my appreciation for working with both my mind and hands. This combination of mechanical and rational traits ... have led me to believe that surgery...and medicine might be a good fit for my skills and interests.
Meghan Frey, Academic Scholarship
Nursing, University of Wyoming
I want to be able to help people and have a positive effect on them. Nursing would allow me to help others and give me the opportunity to pursue an education that genuinely interests me.
Sage Shumate, Academic Scholarship
Criminology, Boston University
It is the mystery of criminal behavior and the potential for improvement within the criminal system that draws me toward a major in Criminology. One day, I hope that I can help the world to better understand the social and psychological reasoning behind crime, therefore aiding our criminal justice system in creating improved preventative and rehabilitative measures.
Paulina Tapia Bernal, Stanley Hotel Scholarship
Human Nutrition & Food Science, Colorado State University
I have chosen to pursue a Human Nutrition and Food Sciences degree. I am pursuing this degree not only because I hope to continue to better my relationship with food...but also because I believe that with my background, I could one day become a Clinical Registered Dietician with a great deal of knowledge and sympathy to offer.
Esabella Burkhardt, Carver Family Scholarship
Psychology/Liberal Arts, Front Range Community College
I know that I want to be in a field of work where helping others is the main goal. My work in Rotary has furthered my passion for working with others.
Jennifer Johnson, Lynn Coffman Scholarship
Business, University of Colorado - Boulder
I found my niche in business while participating in EPHS’s business program. Through the uniqueness of the BAM (Business, Accounting and Marketing) program, I have experienced the real-life structure of a business, while being the Chief Executive Officer during the 2019-20 school year.
Noel Villanueva, Brunson/Thorp Scholarship
Business Administration Management, University of Wyoming
I have big goals and dreams, and I don’t think it will be easy. I think it will be challenging, heartbreaking, and there will be for sure times where I wanna give up. But as long as I can look back on my life when I’m old and on my deathbed, and think to myself ‘I made a difference’ then it will be all worth it.
Aubrey Kinley, Ron L. Kuhns Scholarship
Agricultural Business, Texas A+M University College Station
My overall goal for life is to manage a large-scale cattle ranch where I provide the highest quality beef products for my customers. My goal for the longest time has been to keep the Western way of life alive and to give people meat that respects these standards. I believe in respecting the land that God has given us and using it to its fullest potential.
Matthew Turner, Brian Archibald Scholarship
Associate Degree in Art, Aims Community College
My plan is to attend a two-year community college before transferring to a university where I can graduate with a bachelor’s degree in order to pursue my dreams of creating and teaching art of all forms, especially digital and graphic art.
