Meeting Notes for August 24th
President Kathy Groesbeck rang the bell at 12:00. Bill Smith offered a tribute for member Ken TeSelle and Jan Ludlum, wife of Rob Ludlum, who passed away earlier in the week. The Invocation was presented by Lee Lasson. Dave Evans led us in song and the Pledge of Allegiance. Guest Introductions by Karen McClure.
Visiting Rotarians: Kyle & Phyllis Robeson with daughter Kim from Champaign, Il; and Nick Nail.
Guests of Rotarians included: Marvin Criswell, a new resident and guest of Bill Smith; Karen and Adam Christenson; Harry Livingston introduced wife Mary and granddaughter Anna.
Announcements
Tara Moenning introduced scholarship winner Adam Christenson who spoke to the group about his plans for college.
President Kathy announced that there would be no committee meetings today to allow time for the pargram. There will be no meeting next week due to fifth Thursday.
Cards for Ken TeSelle and Jan Ludlum are on the back table.
Kathy read a Maya Angelou poem entitled “When Great Trees Fall” as a tribute to Ken and Jan.

Karen McClure introduced Laura Livingston and husband Mike Durkin to perform a lively improv program. Laura is the daughter of Harry and Mary Livingston.

Nominating Committee seeking leaders
The Nominating Committee to slate officers for the next club year, July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019 has been appointed by President Kathy Groesbeck, in accordance with our club's bylaws. The Nominating Committee members are: Dave Evans, President-Elect and Chair; Pete Sumey, Past President, Thor Homme, Immediate Past President, and Karol Rinehart, Member-at-Large.
The Committee will continue to meet in the next several weeks to submit the names of qualified members for President-Elect Nominee, Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant-at-Arms for one-year terms; three Directorates of Club Service and Administration, Community Service, and Membership for two-year terms; and two Foundation Board trustees for three-year terms. Also, the Nominating Committee will nominate from the membership someone to fulfill the two-year term of 2017-18 and 2018-19 for the International Service Directorate, with Dave Evans resigning from the position to become the President Elect for 2017-18.
At the Club Meeting of August 17, 2017, President Kathy Groesbeck announced the position changes of: Karol Rinehart, resigned as President-Elect and resuming the Director of Club Service and Administration; Dave Evans accepting President-Elect and resigning Director of International Service; Tara Moenning resigning Director of Club Service and Administration and resuming Scholarship Chair at the club's Foundation. These necessary changes came as a result of a Nominating Committee of Thor Homme, Pete Sumey, and Kathy Groesbeck meeting to slate these positions. These position changes have been announced at the Club Meeting of August 17, 2017 and will be announced at the next two Club Meetings on September 7 and September 14 as well as be published in the next two Spoke issues on Monday, August 28, 2017 and September 4, 2017, in accordance with the club's bylaws.
The Nominating Committee places the following names forward, which will be officially approved by the Club Board at their meeting on September 5, 2017.
