New meeting location: Nicky's!

As announced by President Doug last week, our club has moved to a new meeting locationThis week's meeting and all future meetings will be at Nicky's Steakhouse, 1350 Fall River Rd.

No R.S.V.P. is necessary. Can you hear Karol Rinehart's sigh of relief? You may choose from three food options on Thursday: full lunch buffet with beverage and dessert included ($15), beverage only ($5), or beverage and dessert ($9).

4th Thursday - Committees to meet

The real work of a club happens at the committee level, and this week's meeting will give everyone the chance to engage in this important work. Following lunch and a brief business meeting, members will gather in groups related to their interests.
You can see what you indicated as your area of interest at the bottom of your Spoke every week. But, fear not! It's never too late to join in, try something new, or simply "shop" for a group.

Here are the club members who will lead the small group work at Thursday's meeting:

Ron Gordon - International Service
Sue Fereday - Youth/New Generation Service
Karen Thompson - Fund Development
Karol Rinehart - Club Administration
Dennis Gellhaus - Sergeant-at-Arms
Rick Taylor - Programs
Bill Solms - Membership
TBD - Community Service

Bring your energy, your ideas and your willingness to help the Rotary Club of Estes Park be a better club for all of its members. You make a difference!
July 18 Meeting Highlights

The Rotary Club of Estes Park was called to order by President Doug at exactly 12:00. He welcomed all and thanked Nicky’s for their hospitality and for becoming our new meeting place. An invocation was given by Tara thanking all for “service above self”. Our shredding event raised $2,400 for scholarships. Jack Overly led us in song with Madison on keyboard.
Phil Moenning introduced visiting Rotarian, Jim Whiteneck, from Ft Smith, Arkansas.Guests of Rotarians: Scott and Karen introduced Neal and Gini Wiseman, relatives of today's speaker. Sojourner Frank Haines introduced his wife Tish.
Scott’s joke of the day referred to Dennis Gellhaus, as a past minister, getting the Spirit Award.

Farmers Market: show your Rotary spirit

Our Community Service has begun at the Farmers Market every Thursday morning in Bond Park, and you are invited to be a part of it.

Jim Austin has been the 'face of Rotary' to Vicki and the vendors at the market. When Jim leaves in mid July, we will need a "point person" each week to coordinate us with Vicki each Thursday. Can you help do that?

Furthermore we need a couple of volunteers each Thursday. Yes, the market is open through 1 p.m. so you will get meeting credit if you work at the market during the Rotary meeting. This effort keeps Rotary in front of people we know in Estes - and the visitors.

If you are interested in volunteering you can think of it in one long shift or two shifts from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on Thursdays. While helping with parking or loading where we can; the best part is ambassadorial by smiling and making the vendors and attendees to the market feel welcome in the Estes Park way.

Let me know if any dates appeal to you between now and through the last Thursday in September. Thanks for considering a pleasurable opportunity for Community Service by our Club members. Let me know which Thursdays appeal to you. Neighbors, visitors and grandkids are always welcome to work along with you.

Volunteer Coordinator for Community Service

Rotary Quote of the Week

"In Rotary, none of us is an island. All of us are in Rotary together, whoever we are, wherever we are from, whatever language we speak or traditions we follow. We are all connected to one another — part of our communities and members not only of our clubs, but also of the global community to which we all belong. This connection is what lies at the heart of the Rotary experience. It is what brings us to Rotary. It is why we stay. Please join your fellow Rotarians on this journey as Rotary Connects the World.”

- Mark Daniel Maloney, R.I. President 2019-20
