Rotary Weekly Luncheon
Place: American Legion
 Time:  Lunch served from 11:30 - 12:00
 Cost:  $15
 Parking:  American Legion and the church only.
 
Announcements:
  • Community Service Committee Meeting - no meeting
  • Duck Race Committee Meeting - February 3 at 5 PM via ZOOM
  • Membership Meeting - at Rotary Thursday
  • International Service Committee Meeting - no meeting this month but hopefully face to face in February
  • Fund Development Meeting - no meeting Thursday due to meeting Wednesday

  • Thursday will be our committee meeting day for this month.
  • After being ill, I’m looking forward to being back with you.
  • Dennis did a wonderful job “pinch-hitting” in my absence. We have a lot to look forward to next year under his leadership!
January 20, 2022 Meeting Notes
 
President Elect Dennis Gellhaus rang the bell at 12:00.
The Invocation was given by Milt Garrett.
President Elect Dennis Gellhaus led the Pledge.

 
Guests of Rotarians:
  • Annie Slack introduced Ava Kendall;
  • Mel Rueppel introduced Barry Hanningan for his third visit and who submitted his application for membership
                                               
Announcements:
  • We need two more Scribes to share the load with Pete and Madison.
  • Committee meetings need to be scheduled for next Thursday.
  • Golf Tournament presentation: Carl Robicheaux presented a beautiful bowl crafted by Pete Sinnott to Mel Rueppel for his golf tournament sponsorship.

Happy Money:
  • Jim Whiteneck thanked Dennis for filling in while he is recovering from Covid-19.
  • Carl Robicheaux is glad that Wayne Newsom is recovering from knee replacement surgery.
  • Karol Rinehart is happy for all who attended the meeting.
  • Mel was happy to receive the bowl for his golf tournament sponsorship.
Program:
President Elect Dennis introduced program speaker Elizabeth Winn from Junior Achievement.
 
President Elect Dennis closed the club meeting with the 4 way test.

Model Village Service Project in Bangladesh
 
Doug Mann said "It's an empowerment project in this village to teach men and women trade craft to earn a living."
Ron Gordon saidWe are hoping to get District Matching Grant Funds to further support the project.”
 
    
 
 
Scholarship Committee Formation
 
Announcement:
  • The Rotary Foundation Board decided to call for the formation of a Scholarship Committee consisting of seven people.
  • Anne Slack, Scholarship Committee Chair and Tara Moenning, past Chair will hold two positions. 
  • We would like five other Rotarians to step forward to be on this committee.
  • It will only involve a short amount of your time evaluating scholarship applications when they are ready.
  • Please contact Anne Slack at anneslack@aol.com if interested.

  • I noticed we had no birthdays or anniversaries listed in the Spoke for January which seemed weird to me.
  • Rita helped me investigate and found many incomplete member histories.
  • Please check your data and update it so  you can be properly recognized.

  • If two more Volunteers would step forward it would make it so much more pleasant and everyone would only have to be Scribe once a month.

Temporary Sergeant-At-Arms Needed!
 
Announcement:
 
  • Due to travels by Mel Ruppel, Sergeant at Arms, a volunteer or volunteers are needed to set up and put away the banners, bell/gavel, and badges for Rotary meetings on January 13 and 27 as well as February 3, 10, and 17th.
  • If interested, contact Anne Slack at anneslack@aol.com as Mel has left on his trip.
