Gary Hall will discuss his busy new schedule as mayor of Estes Park. The job, which he started in April, braids his previous lives as an IT tech and software designer for a marketing company in Lincoln, Neb.; chief operating officer of Estes Park Health for 18 years (he moved to town in 2003, but had been visiting since 1974), dogged safety advocate and lifelong backpacker. Between 2004 and 2012, he and his wife summited every 14er in the state.

We have a Rotary Board Meeting this Tuesday night at the Library in the Wasson Room at 5 PM. If you would like to come and observe, please feel welcome. The more you know about your club, the better.
This week we will be passing around sign-up sheets for three committees the Board has created. One is for Policies and Procedures. Jim Austin has volunteered to chair that committee. One is for Public Image and one is for 100% Paul Harris. I’ll describe these committees in more detail on the clipboards so you know what is involved. I hope you will sign up for one of the committees as we need your assistance.

Jack’s service was changed to Allnutt’s Funeral Home. Consequently, attendees will need to park at the lower level of the Rec District and walk or be shuttled (if raining) over to the funeral home. Crutches4Africa
This week, Sunrise Rotary and our Rotary have been collaborating on an article for EP News and the Trail on Crutches4Africa. I wanted a place in Estes where I could tell folks they could take their unused assistive devices. We had no luck. Then Bill Howell, President of Sunrise Rotary, offered his garage. So now we can collect items. If you have an assistive device you no longer need or want, bring it to our meeting on Thursdays at the Legion. I will collect them and deliver them to Bill at his home.
Crutches4Africa is a 501c3 organization and is the international project of Mountain Foothills Rotary Club in District 5450. David Talbot is a Rotarian. He and his wife Candace, started this organization by themselves. It is a worldwide organization now and every person participating in it is a volunteer. No one is paid. They do this out of the goodness of their heart to provide mobility devices to people stricken with polio.
“Mobility, Health, Dignity, Access: We toil together to enable those we may never see. Hobbled in life by some illness, accident or act of violence. Many are hopeless. The generous donations given to Crutches 4 Africa are the tools we use to help raise the hindered, to lift them from the dust, and help them on their way.”
It was an excellent concert as Brad is the consummate entertainer and sings John Denver songs better than anyone else. The reason for our success is the patrons who come year after year to enjoy this music—they are the best audience anyone could ask for, respectful, appreciative, and always awed.
