Time: Lunch served from 11:30 - 12:00

Parking: American Legion and the church only.

Brad Manard

An author, photographer, and guide, Brad has spent his life appreciating nature and wildlife and now does so through his company RMNPhotographer offering Wildlife and Scenic Private Guided Tours. Brad has a doctorate in education and three degrees from the University of Nebraska. He is a former international mens' gymnastic judge, a member of the Lincoln, NE Southeast High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and a former finalist for Iowa School Superintendent of the Year. Additionally, Brad is an accomplished author having written five books including three novels and the notable memoir of Key West, FL legend Captain Tony Tarracino. With 39 years in education including 27 years as a school district superintendent, Brad now lives in Estes Park, CO with his wife , Carolyn. Brad is here today to share the vision of the Kahuna Memorial Project to memorialize the famous elk while educating our visitors on wildlife safety.

Meals At Rotary Now Cost $20

So…. what makes our Rotary Club special and unique? Certainly its our members. We have a group of individuals that enjoy each other and are dedicated to service. And living here in the Estes Valley provides us with wonderful possibilities for service! Examples are The Duck Race, golf tournaments, community projects as well as International projects. With the Park in our backyard, it is indeed a dream setting for sharing our own story as visitors come through town.

I remember last year at Autumn Gold selling beer, and a Rotarian vacationing from the Midwest came by and placed an extra $20 in our coffer because he knew what good work Rotary does. Keep reaching out and let our work speak volumes!

And a BIG thank you to the Foundation and those who contributed to our new speaker system! It is great!

July 28, 2022 Meeting Notes

President Dennis Gellhaus called the meeting to order at 12:00 PM.
Carl Robicheaux presented the Invocation.
President Dennis led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Madison Casey led the song “Getting to Know You.”

Grant Delbecq, who is intending to join Rotary.
Andy Grant.

Richard Kimple introduced himself as a returning Rotarian who has been away a long time.

Announcements:

The Duck Race Committee will meet at the library in the Wasson Room at 5:30 pm. Bob Fulton will discuss the 2023 programs.
Lunch will go up to $20 next week.
Aug. 27 is the Shred-a-thon and volunteers are needed.
Sept. 3 is the John Denver concert. Ticket sales are going well.
Sept. 16 is the Golf Tournament. Please donate.

Tara Moenning read letters from scholarship recipients thanking Rotary.

Karen Thompson told a joke to much approval.

Happy Money:

Richard Kimple is celebrating 50 years as a Rotarian.
Mike Connolly is happy the Astronomy Club is meeting again after 2 ½ years.
- There will be a session on the James Webb telescope on Sat. night at 7:30 at the observatory.
- Come early if you want a seat.
Scott Robbins is happy his grandkids are visiting.
Bill Sohms is happy Scott is taking the Duck Race meeting.
Longley Parker is celebrating pickleball winnings.
Mel Rueppel is back from a long trip.
- His grandson graduated and is going to Cornell University next year.
