Update from President Dennis Gellhaus
There is a time for every purpose in life. Sometimes it Is risking ourselves; being out front, and at other times life requires us to sit back and be reflective. There are times when we work for others in service, and times when we take care of ourselves.
I am grateful to Dawn for stepping forward to take over the Treasurer position, while Michelle and Doug give themselves time surrounded by our care for them.
Committee meetings will be meeting this Thursday. Nominations committee will be looking for a President-elect! It is time for us to place names who would step up and serve. If you have a suggestion, please let us know!

January 12, 2023 Meeting Notes

Chris Davis was introduced by Pete Sumey. Chris is here for his second visit, and is planning to submit an application for membership.
Announcements: Scott Robbins announce a Duck Race committee meeting on January 19 at 5:00 at the library. President Dennis informed the group that the Foundation board will meet on January 19 at the Quality Inn. Jim Austin announced that $1,000 has been raised to pay for a Shelter Box now. Good work, Jim. A Shelter Box will be on display during the District Conference in June.
New Member Induction: Annie Slack performed the induction ceremony for Gary Nelson along with his Sponsor Kevin Mullin. Gary gave a short bio to introduce himself to the group.

Doug Mann informed the group that his wife and club member Michelle has learned of a serious illness while visiting family in California.
Program:
Karen Thompson introduced speaker Dr. Maria Kidner, a Rotary member from Lander, WY who spoke to the group about a project she developed in Rwanda, Africa, to decrease rheumatic heart disease and save lives through nursing education.

Paul Harris Society:
President Dennis Gellhaus recognized Kathy Groesbeck for her contribution to the Paul Harris Foundation. The PaulHarrisSociety recognizes Rotary members and friends of The Rotary Foundation who elect to contribute $1,000 or more each year to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus Fund, or approved global grants. The purpose of the PaulHarrisSociety is to honor and thank individuals for their generous, ongoing support of The Rotary Foundation.

Announcements: The Foundation board will meet today at the Quality Inn. Scott Robbins says the Duck Race committee will meet today at 5:00 in the Wasson Room in the Library. The club meeting next Thursday will focus on committee meetings. President Dennis announced that Dawn Shields will replace Michelle Mann as club Treasurer. Thank you, Dawn.
Medical Report: Tara Moenning has received information from Doug Mann that Michelle is back in Colorado, and is working with a new team of doctors. The first phase of treatment is a series of three to five sessions of radiation surgery to remove tumors in her brain.

Beth Weisberg introduced speakers Lily-Ann Smith and Anna Roberts-Briggs from EP high school Youth in Action program called Give Next, where students learn about 501(c)(3) organizations in their area and then plan projects to contribute to some of these organizations.

Keep Those Prayers for Michelle Mann Surrounding her!

Friends, Michelle will have her brain radiation treatments this week, three sessions beginning on January 26th, the 31st, and February 2nd. Following this her targeted chemo therapy with oral medication will begin. It will take the brain several months to “adjust” to the radiation treatments, so we probably will have no other news to share for quite some time following her radiation surgery. I will try to report in early February if symptoms have improved following the procedure. Michelle and I learned many years ago that our days are in His hands (Psalms 31:15). Thank you for your prayers as we continue to walk the path that is before us.

Thanks to the generous donations at the meeting on Thursday, a beautiful arrangement with various flowers including sunflowers, freesias, chrysanthemums, and more, was delivered to Michelle on Friday and another arrangement will be sent in a couple weeks. Thank you all for your prayers, kindness, caring and generosity.

Our Last Exchange Student
Jean Rissmiller is planning an early evening reception for Antonia Troncoso, our former exchange student from Chile, who is returning for 5 weeks starting January 22 - March 1st. We'd like to welcome her back with a reception at the Dunraven towards the end of this month. Jean is working with Terri Martin (our social director) and with Cindy Morgan @ the Dunraven to determine a menu and a date. We'd like to invite Noon Rotary to join us.
