I was sorry to miss our Thanksgiving luncheon last Thursday, but living in Estes sometimes the weather dictates our travel plans. We were able to catch our flight before the weather deteriorated and plan to enjoy Thanksgiving with our sons and families in Austin. Best wishes to everyone for a joyful time of giving thanks.

President Elect Karen Thompson rang the bell at 12:00 PM. Ben Van der Werf gave the Invocation. President Elect Karen led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Karen Thompson introduced speaker Mark Solomon, who spoke to the group about the Veterans Community Project.
It is a project that provides Tiny Homes to our homeless Veterans, men and women that were willing to die for our country yet were now living on the streets.

Update on Bright Christmas for Our Adopted Family
So far our Rotary Club has collected about ½ of what we need to fill our Bright Christmas family’s wish list. This is no small task, as there are 5 children and 2 parents in this family.
We have now ordered all of the comforters and the soup bowls they requested
One of our members has bought golf tees, golf balls, and a round of golf for 17 year-old Devon. Thanks to 6 very generous members’ checks so far
We have about ½ of the cash we need for the rest of the family’s needs and wishes.
We still need all of the other items on the list, along with as many gift cards and/or more checks as possible, if we are going to make this Christmas bright for this family.
Everything has to be received by no later than December 1. Since we have no more noon meetings before then, if you are willing to participate even in a small way please let Beth know what you would like to contribute, so she can plan what we can afford to buy.

Checks should be made payable to Beth Weisberg, so she can buy items off the wish list with the money.
Beth will be happy to pick up items, checks, or gift cards from you at your home, or you can leave them on her front porch and let her know they are there.
Most important is to let Beth know what you are planning to donate, so she can budget for and order what is most needed.
