In Rotary we have the 4-way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
  • Is it the TRUTH?
  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
About 10 years ago a 5th part of that was added by many clubs and members.....Is it FUN?

Well this year's conference will definitely be FUN.  On Friday night following the barbeque dinner DG Lee is hosting Casino Night. You will have the opportunity to play blackjack & craps using "monopoly money" (not real gambling).  You won't want to miss this fun night at District Conference.  Register today for the best rates!!
Update by President Dennis Gellhaus

Where were you last Thursday when the power went off in town?  Many of us were gathered at the Observatory listening to Mike Connelly give us an educational program when everything went dark, except the emergency lighting! Even though our evening was cut short, it was a fun experience that I hope we can do again.  What a wonderful learning tool for all ages!  Estes is fortunate to have the Observatory!  And thank you Mike and your family for all you have done to add this gem to our community!

Remember this week our District Governor, Lee Varra- Nelson will be sharing with us and updating us on the District Conference coming up June 8-10.

Thanks for listening.
Dennis

What a Successful Social It Was...
Until the Power Went Out All Over Estes!

We had such a good time socializing at our meal at the American Legion and then on to the Estes Park Memorial Observatory.  There were 19 of us.  Everything was going smoothly until all of a sudden the lights started flickering and then went out.  Fortunately Mike had emergency lights in the building and the power outage proved the lights worked.

A special thanks to Gregg Jurgens and Dennis Gellhaus for helping me to get the Legion paid as well as Bill Smith for assisting with serving our meals.

Big Duck Report

Well, Big Duck is finally back from his travels!! Little Duck, the Tech Committee, and the Duck Race Committee (also the Chamber of Commerce and the Duck Waddle sponsors) have done an incredible job from January through today in the midst of constant changes to property ownerships at the starting line, town application changes, construction bordering the downtown plaza, etc.  I am so grateful for the teamwork that is constantly going on with not only Rotarians giving of their time and resources, but non-Rotarians who see the Duck Race as an important part of their community.  Recruitment of volunteers to help with security and other race detail work is ongoing; most importantly, we are having some fun doing this!!

Please join us if you have not already in making this year's Duck Race Festival the best one of all....
