Kevin Mullin's program will update club
on E.P. Health Foundation activities

The Estes Park Health Foundation remains committed to improving the health of the people in the Estes Valley. Specifically, its goals include raising funds to support the capital and operational needs of Estes Park Health, to build and steward its endowment in order to ensure future financial sustainability, and to raise community awareness of the important work done by Estes Park Health.

Kevin L. Mullin, Executive Director of the Estes Park Health Foundation, will speak at the Rotary Club of Estes Park on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the regular noon meeting. He will provide an update on The Foundation’s activities.

Kevin L. Mullin

The Foundation is the fundraising arm of Estes Park Health. In this role, Mullin provides leadership and management to The Foundation, focusing mainly on fundraising. Kevin has served in this capacity since March 2016.

Mullin has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit management and fundraising, having previously served in roles with the American Red Cross, Inner City Health Center, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He has a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Regis University and holds the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation. He also earned a Master of Nonprofit Management degree and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Capacity Building from Regis, and is a graduate of the Institute for Leaders in Development at the University of Denver.

In addition, he serves on the Boards of the North Colorado Medical Center, The Elizabeth Guild, and the Denver African American Philanthropists (DAAP). Kevin serves on committees with the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable.

Kevin is originally from Fresno, CA, and is the father of Kevin L. Mullin Jr., who is a student at Western Washington University preparing for a career in Philanthropy. Kevin enjoys domestic and international travel, downhill skiing, fast cars and learning about technology. He also plays softball and volleyball, and is currently (slowly) learning to play golf.

Nov. 8 meeting highlights

President Dave Evans called the meeting to order. He offered today’s inspiration. Dave also led us in singing “God Bless America” for our Election & Veterans’ Days. Then followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Jay Harroff led introductions. We were delighted to welcome former members Larry and Joan Allen who were visiting town from Arizona. Lee Lasson introduced Gordon Ulrickson who was visiting us for the second time. We also welcomed Sandy Lasson, our honorary member.

Scott Thompson told his joke of the day.

Happy Money
  • Trudy Collar was happy to be retired two weeks ago from flight attending.
  • Rick Taylor thanked those who help programming—Rita DuChateau, Guy Van der Werf, Ward Nelson, Thor Homme. Rick welcomes the ideas we give him.

Announcements
  • National Philanthropy Day will be celebrated with the usual big event at the YMCA Assembly Hall on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 4-7.  You must RSVP to the Nonprofit Resource Center website so they can plan all the great food & drinks:  www.epnonprofit.org. Tell Kathy Groesbeck or Pete Sumey you will attend to help with our display table there.
  • Rotary Foundation meets Thursday, Nov. 15 at 1:15 at Quality Inn.
  • Bright Christmas wrote us that they always need folks to adopt a family for Christmas presents or you can donate new children’s gifts at MedX or Master Graphics.
Paul Harris Presentation
Chuck Rutenberg, our District Governor, presented Thor Homme with his Paul Harris Fellow Plus 8! Congratulations and thank you Thor!

Program
Our District Governor, Chuck Rutenberg, inspired us with several messages. One of his many charitable interests is illiteracy. Rotary membership is a concern, with high turnover. We need to consider new ways to attract members and engage them. “Start with Why” is a book that says to tell folks why we love Rotary and it is worthwhile, before we tell them what Rotary does. Help people to dream.

Rotary Quote of the Week

"Thank you for blessing me with Rotary. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve you better. I am grateful to be a Member of this group that is eradicating polio and has done so much good in the world for so many years. I ask your blessing on my sponsor who invited me to join. I thank you for all the Members of my Club, who have become a second family, united in service to your children everywhere. I ask that you continue to bless us with the good cheer we regularly share. And please help us to better serve our communities, close and distant, by inspiring us frequently with both the clear understanding of their needs, and with the creative solutions to address them. Make us the instruments of your goodness we wish to be. Bless all Rotarians everywhere. Amen"
