Financial wellness:
What it means for J1 international students

Jennifer Comstock, a Financial Wellness Consultant at Key Bank and a member of our club, will be speaking on Thursday, Oct. 17, at our regular noon meeting. Her program will focus on financial wellness, in particular how it relates to the J1 visa international students who work in our local Estes Park businesses each summer.

Jennifer Comstock

Joining Comstock will be Hristina Zhabievska, a former J1 student from Macedonia and now, likewise, a Financial Wellness Consultant at Key Bank. Zhabievska will share her experience with the J1 program in Estes Park and her path to U.S. citizenship.

After completing her bachelors degree at the University of Texas at Austin, Comstock worked in client services in multiple industries, including advertising, marketing, real estate, and now banking.  She moved to Estes Park from Texas a year ago with her husband, spending as much time as possible enjoying all the beauty Estes has to offer.

Oct. 10 meeting notes

Acting President Bill Solms welcomed everyone to today’s meeting. Kevin Mullin gave the invocation. Madison Casey led us in song, followed by the Pledge to the Flag. Pete Sinnott welcomed guests. There were no visiting Rotarians. Guests today were Bill Solms’ wife Mary Ann and his granddaughters Betty and Rhett Marsh. Anne Slack was Greeter today.

Celebration
Members who celebrate birthdays and anniversaries in October were acknowledged with applause and enthusiastic singing of “Happy Birthday”.

Joke
Bill Solms’ 8-year-old granddaughter Rhett was joke teller for the day; her repertoire included a peanut butter and jelly joke and another about a pony who fell and couldn’t ‘giddyup’. Her grandpa then added a groaner about Beethoven’s favorite fruit ‘Ba-na-na-nah’.

Director Pin
Trudy Collar was recognized for her leadership of the Membership Committee this year and she was presented with her pin.
