4th Thursday - Committees to Meet

The real work of a club happens at the committee level, and this week's meeting will give everyone the chance to engage in this important work. Following lunch and a brief business meeting, members will gather in groups related to their interests.

You can see what you indicated as your area of interest at the bottom of your Spoke every week. But, fear not! It's never too late to join in, try something new, or simply "shop" for a group.

Here are the club members who will lead the small group work at Thursday's meeting:

Doug Mann - International Service
Sue Fereday - Youth/New Generation Service
Karen Thompson - Fund Development
Karol Rinehart - Club Administration
Bill Solms - Sargeant-at-Arms
Rick Taylor - Programs
Scott Thompson - Membership
Roger Thorp - Community Service

Bring your energy, your ideas and your willingness to help the Rotary Club of Estes Park be a better club for all of its members. You make a difference!
All are welcome as volunteers!
Help the 2018 Estes Park Duck Race Festival

Everyone knows the Estes Park Rotary Duck Race Festival is the place to be on the first Saturday in May. But, did you know that you do not have to be a Rotarian to help? That's right, Rotarians! You can invite your friends to help.

Make a splash! Be a Duck Race Festival volunteer this year! Invite your friends and family.

“We welcome volunteers from high school age on up to 105 who can give a few hours on Saturday, May 5. No special skills are required except a positive attitude,” said Scott Thompson, Estes Park Rotary Duck Race Festival volunteer coordinator.

Thompson is looking for volunteers to help with:
  • Setting up and taking down equipment at the start and finish lines
  • Selling duck-themed race memorabilia at Bond Park and Riverside Plaza
  • Supporting operations in Bond Park for charities and organizations
  • Helping to display sponsor ducks
  • Ensuring safety along the riverbanks
  • Keeping the ducks from getting snagged in the river.
“Our 70-member club cannot put on this event without a host of volunteers. It’s a great way to help a great cause, to make new friends, and be part of one of the largest events in Estes Park,” Thompson added.

To sign up as a volunteer, contact Thompson at scott@estesparkrealestate.com or call him at 970-590-9941.

Rotary Quote of the Week

On Feb. 23, 1905, the first Rotary meeting was held. In attendance were Paul Harris, Gustavus Loehr,  Silvester Schiele and Hiram Shorey. They met in The Unity Building in Chicago, IL. Each year, we celebrate the anniversary of our founding by observing World Peace and Understanding Day on Feb. 23.

Happy 113th Birthday, Rotary!
