Barry Hannigan is known for his performances throughout the United States and in Europe. He has appeared as guest artist at a host of American universities, such as UCLA, Yale, Cornell, and the Universities of Oregon, Colorado, Illinois, Arizona State, and Texas. He is the recipient of many awards and prizes, including those from the Ford, Belin, Surdna, and Presser Foundations. Hannigan recently retired as the Ellen Williams Professor of Music at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA., where he has received the Class of ’56 Lectureship for inspirational teaching.
“Some in the near-capacity audience were moved to tears” is Robert Miner’s description of flutist Mary Hannigan’s playing at a performance on the Simply Grand series at NPR affiliate station WVIA in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. Notable performances include Market Square Summerfest in Harrisburg with the Ying Quartet, the national convention of the Music Teachers National Association, and the McGraw-Hill Young Artists Showcase for radio WQXR in New York City. She was a member of the Harrisburg Symphony for many years. Ms. Hannigan’s students have won recognition at the national and state level on many occasions: a former student holds the piccolo position in the Chicago Symphony; others have been selected as masterclass performers for the National Flute Association Convention and have performed on National Public Radio’s “From the Top.”

COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEE
WILL MEET ON FEBRUARY 26
The Community Service Committee will meet on Thursday, February 26, to discuss and vote on a request for $922.27 from Project funds to purchase much-needed uniforms for EP High School HOSA Future Health Professionals students to wear to conferences and other activities. We will meet at the American Legion immediately following our regular noon Rotary meeting.
Details about this project have been emailed to all Community Service Committee members. If you have not received that email or would like more information, please contact Beth Weisberg at weisberg.family@verizon.net . All members of the club are welcome to attend the meeting, even if you aren't a member of the Community Service Committee.
The meeting on February 26 will be short, but we need a quorum in order to vote. Please try to attend, as everyone's feedback is valuable. If you can't attend but want to vote on this project, please email your proxy with a yes or no vote, to Beth.
Kick Off Night
Kick Off Night was a great success with Mayor Gary Hall leading us off with a Proclamation and purchasing the first adoption forms. Barry Hannigan, Kick Off Night Coordinator and Chuck Bonza, 1/4 Big Duck worked to organize the event. Jeff Lindberg wore his Rubber Duckie sweatshirt that Sandy Lasson gave him several years ago. Jeff is the guru behind all the IT work that is done for the Duck Race. Beth Weisberg and Anne Slack welcomed the different organizations to learn what this year's Duck Race would involve. Jack Ford, President of the noon Rotary this year consulted with Beth concerning check in of organizations. Lucky Duck attended adding a festive quality to the night.

Our Solar Panels Made it to Kharkiv!
Recently Kseniia Minakova sent these pictures of our panels in use during one of the blackouts. Since we sent them, the attacks on the power infrastructure increased, so that there are even more hours without power. Thus, our panels were received and very much appreciated.
Mark Lee sent us an update on the water purification project in India that we sponsored. Please see the note of thanks below from Mr. Solomon that Mark included. Mark sent pictures from his recent visit to the Angel Home where he attended a ceremony to inaugurate the new system. One of the alumni kids created a video of this event which is attached below the letter. Mark would like to thank all of you for making this project possible.

Announcements:
Chuck Bonza said the Duck Race Kickoff is tonight at the Legion at 6:00. Most of the 73 organizations will be present and Mayor Gary Hall will adopt the first duck. The event will be streamed.
Annie Slack said the Foundation will meet after this meeting at the Quality Inn.
Beth Weisberg said the Community Committee will meet after this meeting next week for a brief discussion and vote on the new donation of school uniforms. The details have already been distributed to the committee.
Chris Davis announced duck sorting is after our March 12 meeting at the Events Center. Then we need to take a barrel full home to inventory ducks.
Jim Austin has been away for the last two second Tuesday monthly Shelter Box solicitations. He put in his money for those two today and passed the bucket. He said we are listed in their 2024 Annual Report as an over 3,000 donor. They are a very efficient organization to support.

Guy Van der Werf said our program had been changed for today as our guest could not get permission to speak from the State Department.
Fortunately we have the Water Utility Department to present the new Water Master Plan for the Town. We welcomed Jacqui Wesley who is Capital Projects Manager. With her were Reuben Bergsten, Director of Utilities, and Jason Fredricks, Water Superintendent.
