Update from Albania

Children at Amaro Tan

Sarah Pita, a Rotarian and Development Director for Nehemiah Gateway USA, spent some time working on reporting for the Global Grant for the Children’s Learning Center this week. The teacher training Rotary sponsored, was successful and very popular. Most teachers in Albania don’t ever learn about working with children with special needs, but because there aren’t specialized services available in schools, many of them do end up working with children with special needs in their classrooms. Thanks to the Rotary grant, these teachers are much better prepared for that now! Sarah will be visiting Amaro Tan soon and will get to check out the new playground for herself, as well as checking in with the team there on how the school year went. This week is the last week of school, and then they go into summer camp season.

It’s a beautiful time of year in Albania—warm and sunny, and all the roses are blooming and the cherries are ripe on all the trees around town.
