Dr. Amber Galey was born and raised in Iowa, attended the University of Iowa for her undergraduate degree and medical school. She completed her family medicine residency in Davenport, Iowa, where she met her physician husband. She worked as a family physician in Iowa for seven years before moving to Estes Park in 2025. Currently, she practices at the UCHealth Primary Care Estes Park clinic (formerly Timberline Medical). Amber and her husband have two children. They enjoy raising their family, traveling, reading, and exploring the outdoors.
Colorado has a very high incidence of melanoma and other skin cancers. Dr. Galey will be discussing skin cancer screening at our Rotary Club meeting.
Our program on May 14th will be held in person, but a Zoom link will be provided.

Community Service Committee Meeting
The Community Service Committee will be meeting right after our regular noon Rotary meeting on Thursday, May 14, at the American Legion. We will be discussing and voting on the following three Project fund requests:
A need from the Senior Citizens Center for $3,000, to help fund a) their annual free Thanksgiving Day meal, which serves around 110 people, and b) their annual free barbecue, which serves around 110 people as well. Now that they are losing their previously substantial funding from the Village Thrift Shop, the Senior Center may not be able to provide those events without funding from another source.
A request from EVICS (Estes Valley Investment in Childhood Success) for $1,000, to fund a new program called "Little Seeds, Big Growth," which will engage 12-14 children divided into two groups: Little Sprouts, ages 2-6, focusing on sensory exploration and simple planting; and Root Builders, ages 7-14, engaging in more hands-on gardening tasks and skill building. This will take place at EVICS' garden plot at the Estes Valley Community Garden in Estes Park, every other Friday from early June through August, 2026.
A request from EVICS for $2,500, for a Youth program providing monthly activities for Estes Valley youth ages 7-18, serving between 6 to 10 young people each time. Program goals include supporting social, emotional, and physical development, building confidence, teamwork, and communication skills, encouraging healthy, active lifestyles, and fostering leadership, problem-solving, and community connection and engagement. Past and planned/hoped for programs include nerf guns, archery, rock climbing, roller skating, and more. This program has been started already using limited available grant money, but more funds are needed in order to continue these activities on an ongoing monthly basis. Our funding would support this program for one year, from July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027.
We have $9,941.15 in Project funds currently available for service projects for the remainder of this fiscal year (through June 30, 2026), and we have spent substantially more on international projects so far this year than in the Estes Valley community. So we can easily fund all three of these projects in full from our remaining funds. We will be seeking matching District grant funds for each of these projects, and if we succeed in obtaining a District match, that would leave even more in our Project funds account. But even without any District match, we have more than enough in our Project account to cover all three of these projects in full.

WANTED: ClubRunner Application Support Person
Our club is supported by the ClubRunner application which is soon to be upgraded to the Nova version.
Would someone be willing to take on the role of IT support specialist for this application? Several of us use the application in various ways, but we need someone who understands the complete application and can make recommendations for its use by our club.

Suzy Blackhurst announced results of the Duck Race:
275 prizes were awarded from 117 merchants, totaling $37,576, including the cash prizes.
8,410 ducks were adopted, raising $193,430 for the non-profits. That includes $5,000 for our Club Foundation.
Total of 10,500 ducks in the water.
A lot of people said thank you at the finish line.
A number of people asked how they could volunteer, which was incredibly gratifying.
Thanks to all who were involved with and helped with the Duck Race.
Val Van der Werf invited everyone to the Scholarship Awards program at the High School, Monday night, 6 to 8 pm.
Beth Weisberg announced a Community Service Committee meeting next Thursday here after the Club meeting, voting on 3 project fund requests, one from the Senior Citizen Center, and two from EVICS.
Scott Robbins announced an additional guest, Max Gwynn, who has submitted his application to join our club. Also, on June 16th, along with the Estes Valley Watershed Coalition and Habitat for Humanity, we'll help plant greenery at the retention pond at the Habitat for Humanity project on Raven Street. Finally, Coffee Talk will be held at Raven's Roost, this Saturday at 8:30 am.
Jack announced that Tara Moenning's birthday was on the 3rd of May.
Happy Money
Carl Robicheaux was thankful for how well the Duck Race went, the opening of the Dementia Day Center on Monday, all the quarter ducks, Dave Boon's boom, and everyone sitting with Bill.
Pete Sinnott was happy that Dementia Day Center opened, and is proud of the club's involvement.
Val won a bet on how long it would take for the first ducks to come to the finish line. It took 35 minutes.
Ben was happy for how smoothly everything went at the finish line.
Chris Davis had Happy Money for his son, who helped wrangle Ducks, his daughter, who turned 17, and his wife of 20 years.
Rick Life was grateful that the duck drop went well, and that he is now retired.
Karol was happy about the beautiful weather on Race Day, and for all the snow earlier this week.
Annie was happy for Pete and the Dementia Center, for the other quarter ducks, and $20 for the rest who helped.
Beth was happy for the big ducks' good work, and for all the snow.
Bill Solms was happy about the guys at the finish line, about Carl, the man in the river, and about everyone willing to sit with him.
Tom Maher was happy about all the Happy Money, had $100 for the centennial celebration, thought this duck race was the best he's seen, and that he's seen four seasons this week.
Wendy Aschenbach was happy about being voted in as a member.
Jack was happy about Kurtis Kelly for his fine presentation at our celebration, and about celebrating the 6th of June when our charter became official.
Scott was happy about Rick Papineau's team and the work they did.
Guy Van der Werf was appreciative of the Big Ducks. He talked with 3 different merchants who were very complimentary. He also acknowledged Val, whose team won an award for her company.
