Community Service Committee Meeting
Next Thursday

Dear Community Service Committee members,

We will be having a CSC meeting at the American Legion immediately following our noon Rotary meeting next Thursday, September 28.
It should be short, definitely under an hour.

Here's what we will cover:
  • Update on pumpkin distribution at EP Elementary School, which will take place Thursday, October 19;
  • Explanation of our Projects funds award to Estes Valley Crisis Advocates; and
  • Discussion (and decision) about what our club wants to do about Bright Christmas this year.
    • Last year several members of our club ended up not participating because they had already given directly to Bright Christmas.
    • This year we need to make a decision well ahead of time -- i.e., now -- to gauge interest of our membership in doing something as Rotary.
    • If the decision is yes
      • we need to decide whether we want to adopt a Bright Christmas family
      • or simply donate money without any particular commitment to a certain amount.
      • We will vote on our decision
If anyone has questions, or other ideas for service projects either from Projects funds or in person volunteering, please don't hesitate to let me know.  We are always looking for new ways our Club can help our community.

I hope you can attend.

Thanks,
Beth

Ukraine Solar Panel Conversion/Decoration October 7, 2023

Hello Friends of Ukraine.  I am pleased to announce that we will be holding our 4th large solar panel conversion / decoration event
  • At 10:00 AM at Fairview HS in Boulder on Saturday, Oct. 7
  • At 10:30am we will hear from a group of students from the Odesa / Kherson region in Ukraine via Zoom.
    • You will hear directly from the people we are sending panels to how important our support is to them.
    • We'll also be collecting winter supplies for Sunflower Seeds for Ukraine (https://www.sunflowerseedsukraine.org/), with whom this project is now officially partnered.
Come to our event and hear from Ukrainians how important these solar panels, and especially your messages of support, are to them.
  • We will have around 20 panels to convert and decorate, but there is still time for you to purchase additional panels to bring to our event.
  • The Renogy 50 watt panels that we will be converting are on sale on Amazon for $39.95, with a limit of 4 per purchaser.
  • The converters we use are also available on Amazon for $12.99 each.
  • Your gift of these items to the event will be very much appreciated, and will allow us to send even more panels to schools, hospitals, villages and defenders of Ukraine.
All are welcome to our event.  If you have any questions, please email me and I will get back to you right away

Find Your Rotary Member Number

Do you know your member number?  I will be inserting one member's number in the Spoke somewhere each week.  If you find your number and let me know, I will add a dollar to the Happy Money jar.  Have fun reading the Spoke!
