Kathy Whitacre is the Program Coordinator in Estes Park for Partners. She works with youth and their families to enroll each youth in Partners Community-Based or School-Based Mentoring Programs. Kathy also recruits, screens, and trains positive adult role models to be volunteer mentors and activity volunteers. Her goal is to match each youth with an adult one-to-one to enrich lives and build community. Kathy provides ongoing case management, plans monthly activities for youth and volunteers, and collaborates with community partners. Kathy is a nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She holds a BS in Business Administration/minor in Accounting, and a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Emporia State University. Update from President Anne Slack
Jack Overly’s memorial will be held on 9/21 at 2 PM in the Shepard of the Mountains Lutheran Church on Dry Gulch Rd.
As your new President I would like your feedback on what is working in our club and what needs to be improved. The Membership Satisfaction Surveys I passed out Thursday should give me some answers. I’ll have more Membership Satisfaction Surveys available at Rotary next Thursday for anyone who didn’t get one this past week. I can also send you an electronic copy of the survey if you prefer. Just email me at anneslack@aol.com. In any case please complete your survey by the end of August so that I can report the results at our annual meeting on October 3rd.

Bill Smith announced the memorial for Jack Overly. It will be Saturday, September 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the Mountains Church.
Tara Moenning thanked all the volunteers who have signed up for the Shred-a-thon. Information about the duties will be coming in emails. There is also a sign-up coming around for the John Denver concert which is on Aug. 31. Please consider being a sponsor.

Nominating Committee Members Selected
The following Rotarians have volunteered to be on the Nominating Committee: Karen Thompson, Jim Whiteneck, Jack Ford, Sarah Walsh and Carl Robicheaux. Their job is to develop a list of qualified nominees for Officers and Directors for 2025-2026 Rotary fiscal year. Officers positions include a President Elect Nominee, Secretary, Treasurer and Sergeant-at-Arms. Directorate positions that are open this year are: Community Service, International Service and Fund Development. If you are interested in any position, please contact one of the members listed above. Their decisions have to be completed by the middle of September to allow time to notify the club three times before our Annual Meeting on October 3rd per our Bylaws.
Palisade Peaches For Sale
Sunrise Rotary has welcomed us to join them in purchasing Palisade Peaches. We have to have our order in by August 8th. A flat costs $60 and you can pay by cash or check. Checks can be made payable to the "Rotary Club of Fort Collins Breakfast". I’ll be passing around a sign-up sheet at Rotary next Thursday. You can also let me know by email (anneslack@aol.com) and mail me a check. Remember, you can split a flat with a fellow Rotarian.
Sunny Schmitt from Sunrise has volunteered to pick up ALL the peach orders in Ft Collins on Saturday, August 24th between 7am-11am and bring them to her house. People can go to her house off Hwy 7 at 1250 S. Saint Vrain Ave, Unit 1 anytime after 1:00pm on that Saturday, Aug 24th to pick up their orders.

Recently our project to support a summer camp in Albania was approved. See the notification that the club received.
“Rotary District Grants Website - Project P-5145
The district leadership has reviewed and approved the allocation of district funds for this project. Please make the necessary arrangements for the project implementation. The approved DDF contribution will be sent to your club when the funds are received from The Rotary Foundation into the District account. Please keep all receipts of project expenditure, and upload all the implementation information on the website as supporting documents. The website is used as a centralized repository for stewardship information.
The total money added to our Scholarship Fund will be $1,743.60. Despite having perfect weather, the attendance was down for shredding. The total attendance was 429 cars versus over 500 last year. We will know more once we have the data on how many went through each station, but we didn’t have the number of cars in the queue that we had last year. Was this because we were more efficient? Or, were our numbers simply down? Answers to these questions will follow.
A huge “thank you” goes out to the following Rotarians:
Bill Smith and Scott Thompson who set up very early, then returned to haul it all back to where it belonged.
Shred truck helpers who greeted each car and emptied all the boxes and bags—David Batey, Jack Boatman, Madison Casey, Grant Delbeqc, Jim Jonell, Dave Scott, and Guy Van der Werf;
Scott Robbins and Phil Moenning for tearing down all those cardboard boxes—an entire dumpster’s worth, and Scott for getting in the dumpster and stomping them all down—(we missed you, Jim Austin);
Karol Rinehart for her usual gracious collection of funds from our customers, and keeping all the dogs happy with her “doggie treats” (a first here, one customer ate a dog biscuit!);
For executing a great traffic pattern and counting the numbers: JoAnn Batey, Karen Thompson, Beth Weisberg, and Madison Casey;
And Annie Slack for making sure it was recorded for posterity😊.
I hope I didn’t miss anyone because I am so grateful for each one. A “Thank you” just doesn’t seem like enough.

Fundraising for the Scholarship Fund - Update
Thanks to everyone who has signed up for the Shred-a-thon on Saturday, August 10th.
The sign-up sheet for the John Denver Tribute Concert volunteers is now circulating. Here we need people for various tasks that are spread out over the noon to 3:30 pm time frame, and then for the 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm time frame. Clean-up help from 8:30 pm until 9 pm would be appreciated as well. Update: We still need volunteers for the John Denver Tribute Concert, especially ushers.
Update: Sponsors, and donations in memory of someone, are always welcome. These help to defray the costs and allow more of the proceeds to go to the Scholarship Fund.

August 22 Update:
John Denver Tribute Concert, August 31st, 2024, at the YMCA Ruesch Auditorium, doors open at 4 pm, Random and True performing from 5 pm – 6 pm, and Brad Fitch and his Tropicowboy Band performing from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm.
The concert has been designated as the “Social” for the 5th Thursday month of August. Rotarians may purchase tickets for $35 until Friday, August 30th—they will be $40 at the door. They may sit in unclaimed seats in sections A and G, or in any general admission sections. Another alternative would be to be a sponsor—for $100 you would get two general admission tickets and have your name listed as a sponsor. To socialize with other Club members we will gather on the deck during intermission.
We are still looking for volunteers to usher: 4 pm to 6:30 pm.
