Update by President Jim Whiteneck

Announcements:
  • Meeting in person/Zoom on October 7 will be a great! I’m looking forward to hearing Fire Chief Dave Wolf discuss the 2020 area fires.
  • Please remember that we cancelled the last in person meeting because three of the American Legion staff became Covid positive.
    • We should take heart that Covid infected 3 TOTALLY vaccinated staff members.
    • There is enough room in the American Legion for everyone that is interested to socially distance.
    • Wearing masks except when we’re eating or when we’re speaking to the group from a safe distance would be appreciated.
    • Hopefully, the Covid booster shots and the diminishing infection rate will be big pluses .
    • If you are feeling ill, please watch us on Zoom if you’re able.
  • October 24 is World Polio Day! We are very close to having this disease eradicated. Any help may allow us to push it “over the line”. Consider donating to the Rotary International Polio Fund.
  • Thanks to the Golf Committee and the entire Club for the successful outcome.
  • Elk Fest has been very highly attended. Hopefully Scott and our beer sales team have been able to generate significant funds for the Club! We will hear more from Scott this week.
  • Finally, our Visioning ad hoc Committee will be bringing questions to the Club on November 4th.
    • This will be a very important time for the Club as we need to hear from all of you your thoughts and ideas.
    • We will have one other meeting later in the month to complete the work.
    • Your committee is excited to begin this process with the entire Club!

Social Committee Thanks

Thank you to all 16 folks that attended the Fifth Thursday Social at Snowy Peaks Winery last Thursday. We enjoyed a glass of wine and snacks and music from Dahlby & Nadine. We were also treated to a tour of the wine making process by the very knowledgeable Tristen. Thank you to owner Candace and her accommodating staff.  The next 5th Thursday occurs on December 31, 2021. With that being New Year’s Eve, the Social Committee is not planning a gathering. We will look at April 29, 2022 for the next event. Any suggestions for 5th Thursday Social Events are welcome.
