Welcome to the New Year!

Dr. Jim Jonell

Our Speaker this week is Dr. Jim Jonell, one of our own Rotarians.  Dr. Jim Jonell is a retired clinical psychologist who researched and taught in Sweden for almost nine years.  He has returned many times and always enjoys speaking Swedish.  He will share some slides and tell us about academic life in Sweden as well as giving us a tour of Uppsala University and Stockholm.  At Uppsala he was granted a doctoral fellowship by the university chancellors of Sweden to study the outcome of student changes in personality and values.  His clinic treated over 200 students a week using group therapy.  The clinic was able to do this because it trained psychologists and psychiatrists to do the therapy.  This was the first group therapy clinic in Sweden to use closed circuit tv.  He will briefly share the results of these studies and then give a tour of Uppsala and Stockholm.

Our program this week will be held in person, but a Zoom link will be provided. Click on the link below to be admitted.

Update by President Dennis Gellhaus

Happy New Year!

And looking back, what a year it has been!  From War,
Weather, Health, Politics, Culture, Sports, Arts, Life and
Death, we have lived the history in 2022.

As we begin this new year, my prayer is that Rotary will
continue to be a mighty force for good in this world and
that we might gather together for that purpose.
Thanks to everyone for their continued support in our
small corner of the world.  But, we do make a large impact!

Thanks for listening.
Dennis
Help Mark Lee with the Sound System

Mark Lee needs help  with setup of the sound system and running Zoom.  Mike Connolly and Lawrence Trifiletti have signed up but more help is needed.  Here is a link to sign up and training will be provided.

This is the sign up sheet:

There are two jobs that people can sign up for.
  • One is the setup of the sound system (which requires no computer skills and can be completed in about 10 minutes before the meeting and ten minutes after).
  • The second job is to run the zoom meeting.   This job requires some computer skills, but training can be provided and all of the equipment is also provided by the club.
Please consider volunteering your time to help even if it is just one week a month.

Contact me at anneslack@aol.com if more information desired.
