Out of an abundance of caution and in light of current world circumstances, we will be canceling our Rotary club meeting this Thursday, March 19th.
We will assess on a week-by-week basis the Coronavirus climate in our area and recommendations by those in authority. We will notify you via The Spoke of additional weekly meeting cancellations as/if necessary. So, it is very important that if you do not receive the Spoke, please contact Club Secretary Rita DuChateau (raduchateau@gmail.com) to make sure you are getting these very important updates.
If you are leading major club functions or activities in the next few weeks, I request that you reach out to me, and we can discuss the possibility of postponement or cancellation of these events.
As much as I will miss gathering with each of you this Thursday, I’d rather be confident that you are all healthy and happy, so that we have many more club meetings together in our future.
If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to either myself or Rita, our club Secretary.
Warmly -
Doug Mann, Club President

March 12 meeting notes
Former Club President Scott Thompson called the meeting to order at noon, noting that he was not Doug Mann, who is away on business. Scott thanked all in attendance for making the decision to be there and assured them that the club is monitoring Coronavirus developments. More information will be shared in the near future. He recognized Jim Scritchfield as today’s greeter and thanked all for avoiding handshakes. Scott reminded club members that the Friendship Card would make a lovely birthday gift for Bruce Brown, whose big day is Saturday, or for any other special occasion. He congratulated Madison Casey and Lee Lasson for being club members for 14 and 17 years, respectively. He said Sue Fereday’s husband is recovering from heart surgery and asked us to keep them in our thoughts. Anne Slack shared that Jack is back at MCR, which is on Coronavirus lockdown. This is a hardship for Mary, as she cannot visit.
For the Invocation, Lee Lasson read Al Wasson’s prayer. Madison Casey led the club in singing “God Bless America.” Wayne Newsom introduced guests, including Bob Fulton, Jennifer Comstock’s guest and possible new member; and Hulda and Jim Bachman, guests of Jay Harroff. Scott drew much laughter with his recitation of “10 Things About Getting Old” and “The Senility Prayer.”
Happy Money
Anne Slack is happy that the Caucus is over.
Scott is happy that Wayne Newsom is back from a vacation.
Wayne Newsom is happy that Scott is happy.
Gregg Jurgens is happy that he doesn’t have Coronavirus.
Jennifer Comstock is happy that husband Matt is recovering from an elbow injury caused by an unruly dog.
Anne Slack is happy that Hulda Bachman is going to present the program.
Announcements
Karen Thompson announced a Duck Race meeting on March 26 at 5 p.m. to which all are invited. It will be the Grand Opening of Duck Central and will feature pizza and a proclamation.
Gregg Jurgens asked for everyone’s help in sorting ducks at the club's storage shed following the March 26 meeting.
Madison reminded us that the Foundation Board will meet March 19 at Quality Inn, right after our Rotary meeting.
Program Jay Harroff introduced today's speaker Hulda Bachman, longtime family friend and Jane’s golf partner. As residents of Estes Park since 2002, Hulda and Jim are well-known to many. Hulda’s book, Perils and Pearls, was the subject of a fascinating program on her years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp.
Adjournment Scott adjourned the meeting at 12:47 with the recitation of the Four-Way Test.
