Sandy Novotny, manager of the Elizabeth Guild and Lizzie’s Boutique, will speak at the Rotary Club of Estes Park at the noon Rotary meeting on Thursday, January 22nd. She will provide an overview and update of the growth and success of these important community charitable organizations.
The Elizabeth Guild was named in memory of the wife of Roger Knutsson, who was a large contributor to the Hospital District in 1973. Since then, the Guild has raised over $3 million for the Estes Park Medical Center. Lizzie’s Boutique, opened in 2004, likewise supports the Medical Center. In addition, contributions of excess goods aid the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado. All items sold in both stores are donated by the public or area vendors.
Novotny moved to Estes Park in 2005 from Nebraska with a track record as a fitness trainer and boutique manager. She has creatively presided over both volunteers and limited space to assure the continued success of this well loved Estes Valley community asset.

Meet Lucky
After reviewing more than 80 suggestions, the Estes Park Duck Race Committee has renamed the mascot, who will henceforth be known as Lucky.
“Suggestions poured in throughout December, both in the library ballot box and to our email address,” Big Duck Ken TeSelle said. “Thanks to all who entered for their creative ideas. It was tough to choose one from among many great suggestions.”
The campaign to rename the mascot invited the community’s help. The mascot’s former name, Quiltin T. Canvasback, was about 10 years old and has proved to be a tongue twister for the mascot’s young fans. According to the person who has donned the mascot costume for the past few years, many people shout “Lucky” when they see their feathered friend on race day. The Duck Race Committee recognized the following residents for suggesting Lucky’s new name: Sherry Louk, Susie Parker, Karen Thompson and Marsha Yelick.
"In this Rotary year, I ask all of you to:...Share your Rotary stories. Tell them to your friends, on social media, and through Rotary.org. Our Rotary stories are what inspire us, and what encourage others to join us; they help light up our service, as we work to Light Up Rotary."."
