Ruby will share insights on the progress and achievements of the district following the first year of the Board of Education’s newly adopted strategic plan.
Ruby joined Estes Park School District in 2005 and has served in the capacity of teacher, coach, principal, director, and assistant superintendent. Most recently, Ruby was named the Superintendent of Estes Park Schools on July 1, 2022.
Ruby is currently a doctoral student at Colorado State University. She holds a Masters of Educational Leadership, University of Northern Colorado. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Secondary Education, Iowa State University.
Ruby is an active member of Rotary Club of Estes Park.

Tara provided a summary of funds from the John Denver Concert. Sponsors gave $17,775, there was $21,943 in sales, and our expenses were $9690, so we earned over $30,000 for scholarships!
Jim Jonell said that Interact Club will continue this fall in high school with the students already in the program. Please consider helping.
Jim Austin announced Shelterbox day, and asked for $10 donations. We have already funded three Shelterboxes and are working on two more.

Meeting Recording 9/5/2024
Our Rotary Zoom Squad is still working to make our recordings part of our weekly routine. We didn't press the record button for the 9/12/2024 meeting. However we did get the recording for our 9/5/2024 Meeting with Mayor Gary Hall.
Thanks to everyone who signed up for a Committee on Thursday. We now have enough members to get things started and accomplished. I have sent out email and phone numbers to each member of the different committees so you can contact each other and plan a meeting time.
Jack Overly’s Memorial Service is Saturday. Some may be able to park along Grave’s Avenue but most of us will need to go to the lower level of the Rec District parking and walk to Allnutt’s. 2 PM. See you there.
Autumn Gold is coming up the same weekend as Jack’s service. I know Sunrise could use some help. Contact President Bill Howell at williamghowell@outcome.com if you can lend them a hand. Then the weekend after that is Elk Fest. Contact Tim Moore if you can work a shift at tkandslmoore@aol.com.
Remember the Annual Meeting on October 10th. I am planning to report on the survey, hear from the different committees, have a financial report of our club and the Duck Race and take a new picture of our members that we can post on our Facebook page.
Again, just a reminder about attending District Assembly on October 12th in Cheyenne, WY at the Laramie County Community College (LCCC), 1400 E College Dr from 9 to 3 PM. It is fun to be with fellow Rotarians and learn what is being done in different parts of our District.

Message dated August 28, 2024
Not all of our Estes Park friends have heard about Wayne yet. He was admitted to the hospital last Friday with kidney cancer. He’s had many tests and surgical procedures. We’re waiting for the final pathology results from a chest lymph node biopsy done yesterday. The preliminary report is a finding of abnormal cells.
Once the full path report is available, his oncology team will recommend a treatment plan.
At the moment, Wayne is not in pain, fever is down, but he’s very weak.
When he is discharged, he will go to a rehab center for a while before coming home.
Our family is wonderfully supportive. We are focusing on the positives.

Wayne is home after 13 days in the hospital where he was diagnosed with metastatic kidney cancer.
He is getting visits from PT and OT several times a week. Our family and friends are wonderfully supportive
Please share with Rotary where Wayne has so many friends.

Community Service Committee Meeting Set for September 19, 2024
The Community Service Committee will meet on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion, right after the regular noon Rotary meeting ends. We will be discussing Bright Christmas and making a decision about whether or not to adopt a family again this year.
Members of the Committee have received an email with details, but all interested members of the club are welcome. Please let Beth Weisberg know if you have any questions.
