President Doug Mann is VERY pleased to announce the return of our meetings to Nicky's! That's the GOOD news. The BAD news is that we must limit our in-person attendance to 10 club members. That total includes Doug Mann and five other members who are essential to running the meeting. To keep that total to 10, we will conduct a drawing for the four open slots. The rest of us can view and comment on the meeting on the public Facebook page.
IMPORTANT:If you plan to attend the May 14 meeting, you need to contact Karol Rinehart to have your name entered into the drawing for the available spots. She needs to hear from you by Monday at 5 p.m. She will let you know who can attend. Email her at:kj.rinehart@centurylink.net. In-person attendees will need to wear masks. No lunch or beverage service will be available.
To attend the meeting from your home, go to our club’s Facebook page. Scott Thompson will be livestreaming the meeting for the club. (Thanks, Scott!) You don’t need to be a member of Facebook to view the meeting. Our club’s page is public, so anyone can view it. Here’s all you need to do:

Program
Rick Taylor introduced our speaker, Laurie Dale Marshall. Laurie is Executive Director of the Estes Park Nonprofit Resource Center. Her group has been partnering with scores of nonprofits, the Town of Estes Park, groups like Rotary and church groups to dramatically extend the food supply network and help ensure housing for laid off employees and vulnerable members of our community during this pandemic emergency.
They are also helping to support residents to apply for benefits and understand the rules to follow in order to receive benefits for which they are eligible.
Adaptation to new circumstances is the most important characteristic of the Resource Center. There are great demands for services as domestic violence has increased dramatically and the need for remote mobile counseling has skyrocketed.
The need for goods for children has led the Resource Center to partner with EVICS to supply diapers, formula, wipes, etc. which have been in short supply.
The greatest challenge they are facing is for centralized messaging and clear communication between all groups as Estes Park enters into the next phase of recovery.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned with the 4-Way Test.

Board approves new member
Time for club to comment
Dr. Milt Garrett has been a consistently great program speaker at our Club. He applied for membership and his application was unanimously approved last Tuesday by our Board. As most of you may know, he travels extensively, operating as a management training advisor and has been doing this for over 43 yeas. He has been awarded a plethora of degrees and honors in his field, but most important of all he is sought out to remedy business and organizational conflicts around the world, spending much of his time in Russia. Since he currently does not have a Rotary Club that he can call home, we are proud to have the opportunity to give him a home here at our Club. According to club bylaws, if there are no objections within seven days of publication, Dr. Garrett shall be considered elected to membership.
Dr. Milt Garrett
If you have any questions or would like a detailed look at Milt’s complete list of awards, degrees, and honors, I have the details, so just let me know, and I will send them to you.
Bill Solms, Pres. Elect 2020-21. Membership Co-Chair 2019.

Generous response to COVID-19 fund
What. an amazing club we call our own! Through the combined generosity of the club, enhanced by individual club members' donations, all matched by a club member's amazing generosity, we have sent $8,300 to the Estes Park Health Foundation's special fund to support the COVID-19 response at Estes Park Health. This fund was established to help with the hospital’s work to obtain additional personal protective equipment (PPE) for staff, care for the uninsured, acquire equipment, upgrade facilities, and other needs that may arise
The most pressing need is to outfit four patient rooms with negative pressure systems. Negative pressure will prevent air from the room of an infected patient from escaping out into the building to infect other patients or staff. This project will cost $45,000 to complete.
"This pandemic has impacted us all, through illness of friends and family in other areas, social restrictions that limit our interactions and travel, increased anxiety, unemployment, and economic fears," said Kevin Mullin, executive director of the Estes Park Health Foundation. "Our town is preparing for the threat caused by COVID-19, and our hospital foundation is pleased to support this preparedness."
"The Rotary Club of Estes Park's history of supporting local needs is a hallmark of this group. The Estes Park Health Foundation very much appreciates this grant," Mullin said. "The additional pledge of a club member to match donations will multiply the club's generosity and help the foundation to reach its goal."

Rotary Quote of the Week
"Youth Service Month is a special time in Rotary. Throughout the month of May, members of Rotary clubs, Rotaract, Interact, and those involved in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and Rotary Youth Exchange celebrate the opportunities Rotary provides to connect, grow through service, develop leadership skills, mentor or be mentored, and have fun.
The outbreak of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, may alter the way we observe Youth Service Month this year. But it need not dampen our enthusiasm, excitement, and gratitude for these programs and the volunteers who make them possible."
