Doug Frisbie is President of Estes Park Salud Foundation. He will present the 32 year history of the Salud Family Health Center here in Estes Park. He will inform us how Salud is providing medical, dental and behavioral health services to Estes Park.
Doug and his family moved to Estes Park in the fall of 1990 with no jobs and two young children. His spouse, Eileen Flaherty was the first medical provider of the Estes Park Clinic which opened 1992. Concerned about the financial viability of the new clinic, Doug along with a number of like-minded people (mostly women) established a foundation to provide financial support for the new clinic. Doug has been the president of the Foundation on numerous occasions and serves as its current president.
Doug served on the EP School Board for eight years, was manager for Larimer County’s Estes Park Office, and learned how to bake while working at the newly opened Notchtop restaurant. Doug and Eileen have two daughters who live in NY and Washington DC.

Induction of New Member Isaiah Johnson and his wife, Emily came to the front of the room for Isaiah’s induction into the club. Scott Thompson, Isaiah’s Sponsor, was unable to attend as he was on vacation. Emily presented Isaiah with his New Member packet and Badge along with his Certificate of Membership. Isaiah then gave a brief introduction of himself to the club members.

Paul Harris Fellow Recognition Jack Ford reminded members that Rotary International contributions are important for our club, and $200 per member is the ideal amount for maximizing the amount we receive back when applying for grant money from the Foundation. Please note that Ray Leaycraft will match a $100 contribution right now. He then presented a Paul Harris +5 award to Mel Rueppel in recognition of Mel’s contributions to the Rotary International Foundation.

There will be a visitation on Friday, February 23rd from 1-3pm at the American Legion Post 119, 850 N St. Vrain Avenue, Estes Park, CO. His funeral will be at 10 am on Saturday, February 24th at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, 2000 Ptarmigan Trail, Estes Park, CO. Arrangements are being handled by Allnutt Funeral Home, Estes Park. His obituary was in this week's Estes Park News, February 16, 2024.
The Rodeo Committee wants to invite all Rotarians to Gary Nelson's Celebration of Life at Cousin Pat's on February 23 from 6-8pm.

The Foundation selects the officers for the year when they first meet. Gregg Jurgens will continue to serve on Finances as a consultant.
I want to thank Jack Ford and Scott Robbins for stepping forward to accept the President Elect and Membership Directorship positions respectively. I have been actively seeking members to fill these positions since last July. I appreciate it and know both gentlemen will do outstanding jobs. We still need to formally elect them but I don't think anyone will turn them down!
Anna Weddle is not pictured but she along with members of our noon Rotary Club (Isaiah, Dave, Jim and Anna) as well as Sunrise Rotary (Niki and Stacey) and Erin Barryhill ( 8th grade teacher and sponsor) met Thursday night, February 8, to plan the Spring schedule of meetings of the Interact Club. Please see schedule below. 4 to 5 adults are needed per meeting which runs from 11:30 AM to 12:05 PM. The club meets in room 232. It is a wonderful, exciting time with enthusiastic students and adults. If you want to have some fun, contact me at anneslack@aol.com and I can forward you to Anna Weddle or Jim Jonell. If you decide this is something you would enjoy, you do need to have your driver's license to get into the school.
Our Noon Rotary project involving sending modified solar panels to Ukraine, has an additional project for sending yarn. Do you have extra, surplus yarn wool, mohair, alpaca suitable for socks just collecting dust? The yarn goes into making socks and other needs. My point of contact is Andy Lenec in the Broomfield Club and a monthly zoom meeting with Dr. Valeri in Ukraine who distributes the yarn.
It goes to women in Ukraine as projects especially to create socks and hats for front line troops, school kids who may several times a day have to go outside to enter bomb shelters, and schools which turn them into craft projects for kids sometimes just waiting in bomb shelters or during power outages. Some villages have older women left behind from the evacuations who also receive the yarn giving them a purpose.

My goal is to collect yarn through the end of February. I’ll be glad to pick it up via a call to me at 970 775 3555. (Also, for any questions you might have) Then I coordinate with Andy and via Sunflower Seeds Ukraine it is shipped to Dr. Valeri for distribution.
Our Rotary Club has been supplying Solar Panels for the phone recharger project and this is just a simple adjunct.
