This Week's Program
Laura Case, Vice President of the Estes Park School District Board of Education, will speak at the Rotary Club of Estes Park on Thursday, March 16, at their regular noon meeting. Case will be promoting a new school district initiative called Estes Thrives.
Estes Thrives is an approach to restructuring student outcomes, taking into consideration the needs of the Estes community and the rapidly evolving job markets of the 21st century. By partnering with local businesses, community leaders, educational leaders and students, Estes Thrives hopes to guide decisions at the district level that will keep the district focused on success for all its graduates. In addition, Estes Thrives seeks to create a community-wide, whole learning environment for all ages.
Case grew up in Estes Park and graduated from Estes Park High School in 1993. After obtaining her teaching degree, she worked as a teacher for the Division of Youth Corrections at Mount View Youth Service Center in Denver. Nine years ago, she moved back to Estes Park with her family so that her three daughters might experience the same Estes Park community experience that she had growing up in Estes. Her husband, Glenn, is the Middle and High School Spanish teacher and High School Knowledge Bowl Coach.
Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. There are 1.2 million Rotary members in 34,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Rotary clubs have been serving communities worldwide for more than a century. Rotary clubs, around the world, initiate projects that address critical issues such as conflict resolution, hunger, poverty, disease and illiteracy.
The Rotary Club of Estes Park meets Thursdays at the Rodeway Inn in Estes Park, located at 1701 North Lake Avenue on Highway 34 just west of Dry Gulch Road. Visitors interested in learning more about Rotary and its programs are welcome to attend. Buffet is served at 11:30 AM, the Rotary business meeting opens at noon, and the program begins at 12:30 PM.

Rotary Quote of the Week
"We still love Rotary as much as we ever did. We love the friendships and connections we make there, and the ability Rotary provides us to serve humanity. We believe Rotary has tremendous value in our own lives and in the world at large. And we recognize, more than ever, that for Rotary to continue to grow, it needs to embrace the world it serves - in all of its diversity, all of its variety, and all of its evolving needs for service."
- John G. Germ, 2016-17 President, Rotary International
