We Rotarians get so busy with our weekly meetings, community service projects and special fundraising events that it's important to set aside an evening to reflect, celebrate and thank those who worked so hard to make the current Rotary year a success. We will also introduce next year's officers and directors. The highlight of the evening will be several special awards, top secret until the moment of presentation. This year's awards are introduced by last year's recipients, so it's sure to be entertaining.
Come and mingle with club members and their guests at 5:30 p.m. with musical accompaniment by our own Madison Casey. Enjoy dinner at 6 p.m. The program follows at 7 p.m.
This is our first President's Night at The Ridgeline Hotel - let's take the time to celebrate The Rotary Club of Estes Park!

June 7, 2018 Meeting Highlights
President Kathy Groesbeck called the meeting to order. Dale Bonza offered the prayer of invocation. Dave Evans led us in singing “In The Good Old Summertime” followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Chuck Bonza led introductions. Ron Gordon introduced Kevin Mullin, Executive Director of the Estes Park Medical Center Foundation. Bob Brunson introduced his friend John Werner. Rita introduced her husband Phil DuChateau. Wayne Newsom brought along his wife Pat.
Chuck Bonza then gave an update on the Farmers’ Market, which opened today. Our club continues to serve there as ambassadors to the public. We can use volunteers for a shift from 8:00-10:30 and 10:30-1:00. We can also use more wagons for the shoppers, if anyone can donate or sponsor one.
Scott Thompson told his joke.
Announcements
President Kathy reminded us we will NOT meet next week June 14 as the hotel had already scheduled an event before we moved here. We will usually meet in the Trail Ridge room, but we may be moved depending on events they had scheduled before our arrangement was made.
Kathy reminded us that our RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED so we can call the count as close as possible for room set up and meal preparation. The price is $15 but you will be charged $20 without a reservation. June will be a grace period and this will begin in July. For example, today we had 22 reservations but 40 attended so the staff had to scramble to set extra tables and chairs, and cook & bring more food. She suggested it is easiest if you reserve the next week while at the prior meeting. We do not want to discourage attendance, so do come, but be aware you will pay more and eat last without a reservation.
PRESIDENT’S NIGHT is Thursday June 21 at the Ridgeline Hotel. RSVP to Karol Rinehart. Price is $25. 5:30 social time, 6:00 dinner, 7:00-8:00 program.
DUES letters were mailed to everyone and they are due now. Kathy said it is imperative that we pay or convey our intent promptly by July 1 when we must report our count to International and pay dues to them. Also, the board needs to know the membership so it can plan the budget.
Ron Gordon reported on the Golf Tournament June 30 at 8:00 a.m. We still have room for players It is a memorial to Bruce Carmichael and past Rotarians. Ron described the sponsorships available and showed examples of sponsor signs at greens and tees for businesses, individuals, sojourners, memorial dedications. At the top level is the banners that are hung on the clubhouse deck with two levels-- Bronze is $250 and includes one player; Silver is $500 and includes two players.
Harriette Woodard read letters from our scholarship recipients. Amos Westley and Will Peters thanked us for their Hagemeister Eagle Scout scholarships.Hanna Bergsten wrote her thanks for a general scholarship.
Happy Money
Bob Brunson was happy to be 97 and donated $97 to our international activities.
Wayne Newsom was happy to be 89.
Roger Thorp was happy that enough people showed up to stain the Lake Estes shelter even though he forgot to announce the time at the last meeting. Nonetheless, they were finished by 10:00.
Kathy encouraged us to check out the sponsor ducks here in the bins and deliver some.
Program
Rick Taylor introduced Lindsay McFarland, Coordinator of the Estes Valley Watershed Coalition. She is the granddaughter of our late club past president, Bob McFarland. She thanked us for the Duck Race that enabled them to earn $2,600. She described what the coalition does and that it is comprised of 14 partner organizations. They have been responsible for the huge project of stabilizing and planting the banks of Fish Creek and many streams in the valley.

Rotary Quote of the Week
"The spirit of Rotary is not exclusive; it expands. It is not local, it is universal. It is the wish to understand and be understood, to see virtues rather than faults in others, to find what we have in common rather than what divides us."
