Rotarians:
Life is good! Rotary is good!
I’m honored and humbled to have been your President in this the
100th Anniversary Year of the Rotary Club of Cheyenne. I spoke
early on of Rotary being a team sport, and our being a championship team –
a team not made up of champions, but a group of dedicated people of action
giving their time, strengths, and talents. I’m fortunate to have been surrounded
all year by individual people of action that made me, and our club look really
good! You are the inspiration! GO TEAM!
We celebrated our Centennial Year with a club photo, a commemorative book,
and a fantastic banquet! We had outstanding programs throughout the year;
hosted two exchange students; sponsored two Interact clubs; completed an
international water project and an international literacy project; continued a
“Food Security Project” in Nicaragua; installed 12 storm water gutter bins in
our community; sent nine young people to RYLA/YRYLA; introduced a literacy
program into our school district; and had two successful scientific balloon
launches in our TechSpark program. We did all of this while volunteering for
Habitat for Humanity, Friday Food Bag, Crow Creek Revival, Rooted in Cheyenne,
the Farmers’ Market VA produce project; and getting one step closer to the
elimination of polio, worldwide!
All of this -- and we had some fun along the way with my induction at the
Country Club; a successful Cranium Cup; Thursday social gatherings,
once a month; Rotary recruitment at the Symphony, and at the Botanic
Gardens; a fly fishing class; wine tasting at Esther’s; and an inaugural
progressive dinner.
The Past Presidents, Officers, Directors, Committee Chairs, and Committee
Members worked tirelessly to make this year the success that we’ve all enjoyed.
Again, You are the Inspiration!
Thank you – it’s been a privilege to serve!
