ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Reverse Raffle:  Annette Oborn announced that we still have 2/3 of the tickets to sell for the October 13 event.  Text Bob at 330-801-0159 or e-mail him at boborn@kentelastomer.com or Annette at aoborn@att.net to request that they send you tickets.  The $125 ticket includes two dinners and the $100 virtual ticket does not include dinner.   Bob and or Annette will then mail the tickets to you and you can return the stub with your check in the self-addressed stamped envelope that will come with the ticket.  If you are purchasing a virtual ticket, or in case we need to go virtual, please write on the back of your stub whether or not you are willing to split if you are among the last 5 tickets drawn.  As in last years, when payment is received for the tickets, your seating assignment can be made.

Silent Auction:  Christina Gary announced that due to safety issues, the Silent Auction will become a Rotary Raffle.  Directions will come later.  There will be six or seven large items to possibly win through a drawing instead of going to the highest bidder.  Christina is asking that instead of donating baskets, that members donate money comparable to what they may have spent on a basket.  That way the committee will purchase cards for a Lottery Board, gift cards for a Gift Card Board, etc.  There will also be a wine pull with bottles donated by members.  The bottles should have a minimum value of $10 to $15.  Other opportunities will be announced as they are confirmed.

Interact and Homecoming Week:  Dinah Henderson worked with the Interact Club to create "Greek Paradise" float which will be in the Homecoming Parade on Friday, September 24 at the high school.  The float will be built at the Stow Service Building behind the post office.

Ronald McDonald House:  Carrie Leising explained that our next opportunity to make dinner for the residents will be Wednesday, September 22.  Carrie will create the menu.  Jeff Film, Mary Dula, Steve Dunton and Brad Ruth have volunteered to help.  Contact her at cleising23@gmail.com if you can help.

Board Meeting: Our board will meet this Friday, October 15th at 7:15 by Zoom.

PROGRAM;
John Pribonic, Program Host, introduced Julie McClain, with the Stow Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce.  Julie was recently hired as the Executive Director in August of this year.  She had previous been the Executive Director of the Main Street Downtown for the previous three years.   She worked with local civic and community organizations to help revitalize Downtown Ravenna by sponsoring and promoting events, implementing design initiatives and developing programs to improve the economic vitality of the downtown district, and developing cultural programs and experiences for families, friends and visitors.  Previous to this position, she was the Publisher of the Coffee News of Akron for 12 years.

Julie spoke to us about a new direction for the chamber of commerce and she is working with the board to offer opportunities for business owners to improve their skillsets and businesses.  The chamber is over 300 members strong and continuing to grow.  They still want to be an organization that is a conduit for networking for businesses, but also provide some value-added education.  We appreciate Julie filling in as a speaker with very short notice and giving us an update on our chamber of commerce.

Helping Others!

THANK  YOU for supporting our Breakfast Giving Fund!!!

AMAZON SMILES is a great way to provide donations to our Club's Foundation.  Christina Gary sent an e-mail to everyone describing the process for signing up for this program. Shop at smile.amazon.com and Amazon will donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to our Rotary Foundation—no fees, no extra cost. Remember, this program is active at AMAZON SMILES, not the 'regular' Amazon website. The process is easy --- use your phone, computer, laptop, whatever makes you happy!  Just shop, shop, shop!  Thanks!
