Akron Civic Theatre
Howard Parr, Director of the Akron Civic Theatre since 2007 was our speaker last week.

Last year, in the midst of all of the downtown Akron construction, they had the highest gross ticket sales of all time.  They schedule about 200 events per year with more than 135,000 in attendance.

The Civic is in the midst of a huge restoration project. The Grand Lobby and Entrance Arcade will be restored and then the theater elevated to modern performance standards.  After that, the Whitelaw Building next door will be turned into a flexible use club space. The work will continue as there will be a garden alley with restaurants and retail.  This should encourage even more people to attend.  At this point 60% of the people who buy tickets are outside of Summit County.  This will be exciting to watch and something we should all plan to be a part of.

Thank you Roger, for keeping our technology in order, for having been such a big part of the Rotary Exchange program, and for all that you do to support the club! You are an awesome Rotarian!!
