**Our Meetings Keep Getting Bigger!!** This week we welcomed the Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce President Jennifer Cork. She is going to give us some updates on the Chamber and whats happening for businesses and members. It obviously has been an interesting time to take over as leader of an organization such as the Chamber. She explained some of the changes that have happened and will continue to happen as her work with the Chamber moves ahead. (I believe she will be able to handle most anything that comes along because she did the whole program this morning from home with her St. Bernard competing for her attention and never lost her focus). One change occurred after a resignation in the office. The decision was made to not replace that individual and to move instead toward a more automated system. This additional automation has enabled the Chamber to ride the wave caused by the virus more easily and has given the members to tap into regional and national Chamber resources more easily. A new membership system is being introduced this month where members will learn from each other and connect with each other's needs and gifts through "Membership May". Jennifer described this as members working in a circle rather than in a straight line. In addition, "Wake-up Wednesdays" are topical programs for the members and there is a "Weekly Wrap-up" which is sort of a virtual Happy Hour. In addition, they are trying to engage some home-based businesses and have ideas for seeking non-dues revenue. At this point the meetings are happening virtually but of course there is a hope to get back to the face to face interaction that people thrive on. Plans for how to have 80 people meet at one time will continue to be difficult for a while. ANNOUNCEMENTS: We will be holding these virtual meetings at least through the end of June. We have decided that we would offer the club the opportunity to donate their weekly breakfast money to selected organizations during this time we are not meeting. Another way for us to help out community. Checks for May can be made out to Rotary Club of Stow-Munroe Falls Rotary can be sent to Annette Oborn at 381 Silver Valley Blvd, Munroe Falls, OH 44262. I am so very happy to report that as usual our members stepped up in a big way and collected $1300 for the month of April!! Annette has sent a check for $325 to the four organizations we picked. Thank you to everyone who donated!! We will continue to donate money in May and pick 4 more organizations to donate to. Please send your checks to Annette at the address listed above. Your weekly amount is $13 and if you decide to send one check the amount is $52 or whatever you have in your Rotary heart to give! Marty Tass says that he received word that there will only be three Adopt-A-Spot locations this year. He has requested that we receive one of these spots. |
