Dear Fellow Rotarian,
After Co-President John Pribonic opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, he also gave a moving invocation from a Rotarian in Ukraine, discussing not only trauma but survival.
John welcomed visitors Matt Baker, Mary Parr, Mark Treen, Laura Trevorrow, and Dave Henderson in addition to the 14 Interact members who were present.
CELEBRATIONS: Pat Messmore led us in singing Happy Birthday to Dave Segen, owner of Bellacinos who is celebrating his birthday today.
John gave a huge shout-out and thank you to Richard Sprungle, Vice-President of Operations at Audio Technica for the donation of a portable microphone, speaker system and stand. The club will appreciate this donation every week.
Raffle Drawing: Tom Loepp had the winning ticket but drew the jack of diamonds, so the pot will continue to grow.
NEW MEMBER INDUCTION: This morning Dinah Henderson, Interact Advisor, was inducted as an honorary member of our club. This was planned for a time that the students could be available to see her honored. Her e-mail is

Dinah Henderson recognized the work of the Interact students in producing last Friday's Talent Show. They did everything, including the sound and lighting. Later the students told us that they made over $500 on the event which will go toward scholarships,
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Easter Egg Hunt: Our club will participate in this event from 9:00 to 1:00 on Saturday, April 9. Steve Dunton will have a sign-up sheet for us next week.
Foodbank: Mary Dula reminded us that our next volunteer date for the Akron Canton Foodbank will be Wednesday, April 6 from 4:30 to 6:30. Sign up next week or text Mary at 330-715-6358 to let her know you will be there.
Board Members: President-elect, Gail Moseley reminded us we were going to vote on new board members, but since we have the number running that we need, Jenny Coleman, Scott Miller, Bob Oborn, and Brad Ruth will all be members of the board as of July.
Golf Outing: Scott Miller said that biggest need right now in preparation for the Golf Outing is sponsorships. There will be different levels in past years with a flier coming out soon to explain that. He hopes that prior sponsors will again do the same and that we will all talk with friends or associates who have not sponsored in the past to do so this year.
Dairy Queen: Annie Hanson-Hilaire told us that on Tuesday April 12 we should go to Dairy Queen for supper, going into the restaurant. If we mention Rotary we receive 20% of the money they take in. This does not work on take-out food.
Bulldog Bags:For April, the items being collected are Ramen noodles, fruit cups and soap. Please take your donation to the lobby of City Hall by April 13 so that they have items for packing.
Haven of Rest Collection: Through the end of this month, we are collecting personal hygiene items for Haven of Rest. You may bring the items to a meeting, drop them off at the Oborns or donate with check. If you make the check to Rotary of Stow-Munroe Falls, Annette will shop for you. You can also make the check directly to Haven of Rest and they will use it toward purhase of the items.
Board Meeting: Our board met last Friday. Minutes of that meeting are attached to these minutes.
PROGRAM:
This morning we were honored to learn about the structure and activities of Club Interact from President, Natalie Katzenmeyer; Vice-presidents, Gabby Schmidt and Rachel Audet and Alexis Dever. Club Interact is open to all students in the high school who are interested in performing service to the community. The club meets for an hour each week at 2:30 on Wednesdays. They are actually working on turning this into a class. The students gave us a list of the 58 events that they have participated in during just this school year so far, logging over 550 service hours. A monthly calendar allows students to sign up according to their available time and interests.
Goals for the future, in addition to having the club become a class, include increasing club particiation, increasing their level of service, and creating relationships and work with other clubs in District 6630. Some of their outstanding activities include monthly participation at the Foodbank, cards to retirement facilities on various occasions, their talent show, making over 100 tied blankets for Ronald McDonald House, helping with Bulldog Bags and putting on a carnival at the upcoming bus pull for Bulldog Bags.
The club is so excited to be the sponsor for Club Interact and know that these students represent an excitement through volunteerism for our future that we don't find in many places these days. Club Interact students are just what the world needs.
Remember to save plastic lids and metal can tabs for their projects. They have already collected enough lids for one bench and are working on more. The lids are recycled into benches that will be used in the Memorial Garden and atrium of the high school. Bring them to meetings between now and April 20.
