Happy Bucks! | Rotary Club of Walla Walla Noon #271

HAPPY BUCKS RETURN NEXT WEEK!

Stay tuned ...

Carrie Leising, our speaker and host last week, told us she is happy for her daughter, Sienna, a senior at Roosevelt, because she was able to attend prom last Saturday!  We all hope Sienna enjoyed a wonderful evening with her friends, looking her stunning best!  Carrie also explained her experience of being involved in the Adopt-a-Senior Program ---- LOTS of fun celebrating the accomplishments and dreams of seniors in high school.  Carrie's goodie bags for the students were brimming with special treats and messages.  Thank you Carrie for your loving nature and generous heart.  The lucky seniors will always remember your kind gestures!

Carrie shared her computer screen and walked everyone through the Club Runner screens related to personal information, membership information, and methods to change, delete or add to the information maintained for our Club's membership.  Please see Carrie for a personal lesson.  You can also review Andy Denton's notes from last week's meeting for some basic instruction and guidance for log-in information, updating your membership information, preferences, etc., and adding the Club Runner app to your cell phone.

We thank Carrie for her helpful hints, PATIENCE, and willingness to help our members.  Thanks, also, to Cheryl Warren (Akron Rotary Club, past District Governor 6630) for joining our meeting and offering to help anyone needing assistance with Club Runner.

We thank Carrie for her informative presentation!

Hosts --- Please invite your speakers to learn more about Rotary!  Carrie, thank YOU for keeping everyone 'in the loop'.

Helping Others!

THANK  YOU for supporting our Breakfast Giving Fund:

Breakfasts for May total $52 (four Wednesdays). Please send your donation payment to The Rotary Club of SMF, Annette Oborn, Treasurer, 381 Silver Valley Blvd., Munroe Falls, OH 44262.

Thousands of dollars have been disbursed to help so many disadvantaged members of our local communities! Our community groups have sent several notes of thanks during the past several months for our help with feeding those experiencing food insecurities.

Recipients of donations from our Club include:

Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank:  www.akroncantonfoodbank.org
Bulldog Bags, Inc.:  www.bulldogbags.org
Haven of Rest:  www.havenofrest.org
Ronald McDonald House of Akron:  www.rmhakron.org
Stow-Munroe Falls High School Marching Band

Thank you for your continued giving.

AMAZON SMILES is a great way to provide donations to our Club's Foundation.  Christina Gary sent an e-mail to everyone describing the process for signing up for this program. Shop at smile.amazon.com and Amazon will donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to our Rotary Foundation—no fees, no extra cost. Remember, this program is active at AMAZON SMILES, not the 'regular' Amazon website. The process is easy --- use your phone, computer, laptop, whatever makes you happy!  Just shop, shop, shop!  Thanks!

Everyone Plays & Everyone Wins: Kids These Days Don't Know How to Take an "L"...But Whose Fault is That?

A friendly competition was waged during April with the Kent Rotary Club and the Kent Rotary Club in Washington state!  Thanks for helping our Club collect single serving cereal cups/boxes for the benefit of Stow Bulldog Bags! EVERYONE WON! Our club collected more cereal cups than either of the other clubs, BUT, not without the help of the SMFHS Interact Club.  Kudos to the students who collected a third of our total --- in only 10 days!  The Kent Ohio Rotary Club's collection will benefit the Birdie Bags for Kent families. The Kent Washington Rotary Club's collection will benefit a local food bank in their community.  THANK YOU Annie for suggesting this WONDERFUL project.  The press coverage for ROTARY was outstanding!!!

The Golf Outing Committee is in full swing!!!  Please return calls to Dick Hall regarding sponsorship opportunities, golf foursomes, etc.  Our June fundraiser will be SUCCESSFUL!

Volunteers for Foodbank projects:  Contact Mary Dula at (330) 715-6358 (cell).  Interact students can volunteer!!!  Thank you!!

Tabs for Ronald McDonald House:  Save the pop and beer can tabs for Ronald McDonald House; drop them off at Don Coughlin's home.  The SMFHS Interact Club is also collecting pop tabs.  Let's show our support!!

Teacher Supply Closet:  Carrie Leising, Marissa Williams, Olivia Saltzmann and Lisa Toppin will provide updates to our Club.  Thank you for helping the teachers in the Stow-Munroe Falls School District during this crazy academic year!

ROTARY CARES:

Continuing prayers and healing thoughts for Bob Oborn.

Best wishes to Olivia Saltzmann Smedi as she prepares for the birth of her son in August.

Continuing prayers and healing thoughts for Steve Fry.  Contact Steve at sfry@neo.rr.com.

We miss our members who do not join our ZOOM meetings each week.  We hope you are doing well!

JOKES!!

A little girl was at her first golf lesson when she asked an interesting question…

Q: “Is the word spelled P-U-T or P-U-T-T?” She asked her instructor.

A: “P-U-T-T is correct,” the instructor replied.  “P-U-T means to place a thing where you want it. “P-U-T-T means merely a futile attempt to do the same thing.”

Real golfers don't miss putts, they get robbed.

You know you are a hack when your divot flies farther than your ball!
